CHAPTER ONE
The bird's chirping wake me up on a gorgeous Saturday morning. Rubbing my eyes, I sit up in bed and glance at the clock. It read 10:07. After stretching, I literally jump out of bed beaming, remembering what today was…THE CODY SIMPSON CONCERT!
Now, Cody Simpson isn’t all that famous yet, but that doesn’t stop me from being totally in love with the blue eyed Australian hottie.
I don’t even bother to brush my hair or get dressed before going to downstairs.
“Good morning Ryan” my dad says
“Morning!” I reply cheerfully.
“Sleep well?”
“Yeah! How about you?”
“I slept fine actualy, the new mattress is really helping my back!”
“That’s good!” I say with a smile. I kiss him on the cheek and grab a muffin. I must have been smiling like an idiot, because my dad asked me why I was so happy. I explained that today was the Cody Simpson concert, and that I was super excited.
“That’s right! Who are you going with again? Jen right?”
“Mmm-hmm! Her mom is picking me up at 2, then dropping us off.” I tell him.
After that I run upstairs to get ready. It always takes me forever to get ready to go out. I have uncooperative brown hair that I always straighten, and blue-green eyes that have yellow circles around the pupil, and a speck of orange in the corner. I think my eyes are the prettiest thing about me. I have low self-confidence though. Some say it is because I had to move a lot, and I was always leaving people behind, but I’m not so sure.
I’ve been told I look good in purple, so I pull out all my purple shirts. I decide on a purple zebra tank top I made myself, and just casual jean short shorts with purple Nikes. I tied the look together by adding a necklace my mother gave me when I was little. It was a silver star. She gave it to me after my first chorus concert in fifth grade where I had my first big solo, to remind me that I would be a star one day.
I head to the bathroom to put my makeup on, do my hair, and brush my teeth. I used black Sephora eyeliner, mascara, and purple eye shadow with just a touch of glitter. By the time I got done with that and straightened my hair, it was 1:40. I decided to go in my room and sing and play guitar for a little while.
I did a few warm ups, and by the time I finished singing “Don’t Cry Your Heart Out” Jen’s mom arrived.
