CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
We arrived back at my house and I ran straight upstairs to my bathroom to wash my face. More specifically my lips. Cody followed me upstairs while Jen and Monica watched tv.
"So uh...who's a better kisser, me or Jake?" Cody asks smiling.
Obviously, the answer was Cody, but what fun what it be if I didn't tease him a little bit?
"Hmm....Jake. Sorry." I looked at him in the mirror, trying to keep a straight face. His eyes were almost bulging out of his head and he looked shocked.
"Hahahaha, relax pretty boy I'm only kidding." I say turning around and hugging him. I could feel his body relax and he hugged me back.
"I'm sorry I have to kiss him. I didn't know this would happen." I say into his chest.
"It's okay, it isn't your fault."
After I was all cleaned up we went back downstairs.
"Monica, where is everyone?" I ask her.
"Parents are at work, Katelyn's at her friend's, Anthony is hanging with old buddies, and Jesse is at Chad's."
"Ew. Why is he at that creature's house?" I didn't want to sound mean, but he did give Cody a bloody lip.
They all laughed and Monica shrugged.
"I'm hungry!" Jen says after an hour of just watching tv.
"Yeah, me too actually!" I agree with her.
"We should try to make brownies!" Cody said excitedly.
We all agreed with that and went to the kitchen. After getting all the bowls and ingredients out, I read the directions on the box.
"Okay, preheat the oven to 350." I read aloud. Monica walked over and did that.
"Grease a 9 by 9 baking pan." I said next. Cody grabbed the pan and greased it.
"In a medium bowl, mix 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla." Jen did that job while I beat the eggs.
"Next?" Monica asked. I went back over to the box and read "Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Stir into the egg mixture until well blended. Then spread the batter evenly into the pan."
We all looked at each other confused.
"Haha, well here goes nothing!" I laugh and did the step as best as I could. It didn't look that bad so we put it in the oven for 25 minutes.
"NOW WE WAIT!" I yelled and we all grabbed a spoon to lick the chocolate that didn't make it in the pan.
"Hey Cody." I said and he turned around. As soon as he did I smeared some chocolate on his nose. In the middle of me laughing he wiped it off his nose and smeared it on my lip.
"OH sorry Ry, looks you got some chocolate on your lips!" He said sarcastically. Jen and Monica laughed and so did I.
"You're right, I do have chocolate on my lips. Mind getting it off for me?" I say and lean in to kiss him. He falls for the trick and I pull back laughing.
"Dang it!" He said realizing what I did.
"Gotcha!" I laughed and ran away. Stupid mistake, I knew Cody was way faster than me. He caught up to me and playfully tackled me onto the couch.
His hands were on either side of my head, supporting himself up so he wouldn't crush me. I pretend to bite him and said "RAWR!"
"According to your shirt, 'rawr means I love you in dinosaur!'" He said to me smiling. I laughed and turned to the side. He looked confused and then I bit his arm. Not hard though.
