CHAPTER SIXTEEN
I woke up at 8:30 the next morning. Looking over at Jen, I saw she was still sleeping. I decided to quietly get up and eat some breakfast. I didn't eat dinner last night so I was actually really hungry. When I got downstairs I saw there was a note from Jill saying she was at work and to have a nice day.
I finished eating at around 9:15 and Jen came down as I was cleaning up.
"Morning." She said. Jen wasn't really a morning person, so she still sounded tired.
"Hey there. Cody's getting me at 1, then we have to go to the studio. That okay with you?"
"Yeah, that's fine. Are you going to hang out with him then?"
"I think. He mentioned something about you and Jake coming over so I don't know."
At the mention of Jake's name her eyes lit up. This girl was in L-O-V-E.
I started to get dressed and ready at 11:45. I straightened my hair, put on a hot pink shirt from Delia's that said "I'm A Cool Cat." in big gray letters, white jean shorts, and black converse. I didn't bother to put any jewelry on since I assumed I was only recording. I got finished at 12:50. Jen and I sat there and talked about Jake.
"His parents are so nice, and his dog like, loves me for some reason!" Jen ranted. I was so happy for her, she really liked him. They were so adorable together too. 15 minutes later the doorbell rang and I was getting into the car with Cody.
"Hi Ryan, I'm so sorry for your loss." Angie, Cody's mom said.
"Thanks." I said quietly and looked down at my feet. Cody noticed I was shaking a little and gave me a worried look, then hugged me tight. In 10 minutes we were at the studio.
"Call me when to pick you guys up!" Angie said.
"Okay mom!"
When we got to Shawn's office Cody did a hand shake thing and he gave me a big hug. I guess he heard about my dad.
"First thing's first. Ry, we need to get you a manager. I narrowed it down to two people for you, but it's up to you who you choose." He explained.
"Okay, who are they?"
"Tracy Williams or Lisa Jett. There both here to talk to you."
After talking to Tracy and Lisa for about 30 minutes, I chose Tracy. Lisa didn't seem upset though, I guess she had other people to be with.
I saw Cody in the corner talking on his phone. He looked so happy. I wonder who it was? He hung up and came over to me wide-eyed.
"Hey, who was that?!" I asked, anxious to know.
"YOU'RE THE LEAD GIRL IN THE ON MY MIND MUSIC VIDEO!"
I just stood there with mouth open, at a loss for words. Did he just say that?
He picked me up and hugged me. I could tell he was excited that his girlfriend was going to be in his music video. I was too, but what if I messed everything up? I just had to think positive, we would be great working together.
"This is awesome!!" We say at the same time.
"Hey guys, I've decided that you two are going to do a duet." Shawn said, appearing out of nowhere.
Cody looked at me with the biggest smile ever. I did the same.
"Lets write a song!" I say.
We wrote the song about missing someone when you can't be with them. For me, it was my dad. For Cody, it was his best friends and family in Austrailia. It took us about two hours to finish. Then something hit me...I was going to have to move to LA. Who was I going to go with? I have an aunt in LA, but I haven't talked to her in 2 years.
We left the studio and Cody called his mom to pick us up. I looked at my phone and saw that my brohter called. I called him back and after 3 rings he picked up.
"Hey ryan!"
"ANOTHONY!"
"Okay so here's the deal....since you are going to have to move to LA anyway, you're going to live with Aunt Casey for a while. I already talked to her and she agreed that that was the best thing to do. I'll visit you for about a week once a month until I start school again.
"I was just thinking about that. Weird you called. Sounds good, when am I leaving?"
"Do you think you can leave when Cody comes back to LA?"
"How do you know about him?"
"Dad.."
"Oh....I'm sure it won't be a problem. I'll text you about it."
"Alright little one. Bye!"
"Bye!"
I hung up and Cody asked who it was. I explained and he said he would ask Angie when we got in the car.
Five minutes later a Black BMW pulled up to the curb and we got in. Angie said it wouldn't be a problem taking me to California with them. They were leaving in one week.
"Mom, can you take us to Ryan's so I can help her pack up her things?"
"Sure honey, dad, Allie, Tom, and I will be over later too."
I loved Anige. She was so kind to me. It was like she classified me as her second daughter.
I called Jen and she said her and Jake would come over too. Wow, I was going to have a lot of help!
Angie dropped us off and said she would be over in 2 hours. Cody and I started to pack up some things. I had no idea where to start. I've moved plenty of times before, but never alone. Anthony said he was taking care of selling the house. He would be home in three days. I decided to just start packing up my clothing and things in my room. I turned on Unfriend You by Greyson Chance while Cody and I were packing. He smiled when he heard the song.
After about an hour almost everything in my room was put in boxes. I didn't really need anything since I would be living a Jen's until I left. I packed a week's worth of clothes and put them on the couch for when I went to Jen's.
"The two weeks have been totally unreal." I say.
"How so?" He asks raising an eyebrow.
"Well, I'm dating Cody Simpson, the most amazing guy on earth." I kiss him and then continue. "I have a record deal. My dad was found dead. I'm going to be in a music video. I'm moving to LA..."
"I'm so sorry about your dad Ryan. No one deserves to go through that. Especially you. I'm so sorry." He said and pulled me to his chest. I closed my eyes and started to silently cry. I tried to stop because I didn't want to get his shirt wet, but they were coming like a waterfall. Cody tilted my chin up and kissed me. It made me feel a little better. I looked up at him and he wiped away the tears on my cheeks.
"I love you Ryan."
"I love you Cody."
It was the second real smile all day.
