CHAPTER EIGHT

Somehow I got through my math homework and got to bed by 10:30. My dad woke me up the next day since I forgot to set my alarm clock. Thank God for fathers!

I went through my normal morning routine and headed to the bus stop.

“Bye Dad!” I basically scream. I don’t think he heard me because I waited for five seconds but he didn’t answer so I just left.

I got to the bus stop after Jen but as soon as I got there she started talking.

“Hey Ryan! Guess what! Jake is coming over tonight!”

“Oh my gosh no way that’s awesome! Did you guys go on any dates since the movies?” I asked. Jen got her phone taken away on Sunday so I couldn’t text her to ask all these important questions.

“No. Tear. But I’m super excited! So how is Cody going for you?”

“Good! He’s coming over too, but on Thursday.”

By then we were getting on the bus. We talked about Jake and Cody the whole way to school. Cody hadn’t text me yet though, but he was probably just sleeping or something so I didn’t worry about it.

I got through the day without dying of boredom and I text Cody to see what he was doing.

*PHONE CONVERSATION*

Me; hey Cody!

Cody; hey! Lets meet up later I have a fun idea!

Me; sure! You and your surprises(;

Cody; you know me so well (;

Me; I’m almost home should I meet you at the park?

Cody; sure! See you in like 10 minutes (:

I had a thousand thoughts as to what his idea was. I was getting a little bit nervous too. But I got off the bus and said bye to Jen and text my Dad to tell him where I was going.

I got to the park and I didn’t see Cody yet so I decided to wait on the swings.

“AHHH!” I heard someone from behind me scream. It scared me to death and I fell off the swings and screamed. Then I heard laughing. That’s when I realized it was Cody trying to scare me. Mission accomplished, Cody.

“HAHAHA you should have seen the look on your face!” He said teasing me.

“Ha. Ha. Very funny. Way to give me a heart attack you jerk.” I said pretending to be mad at him.

“Oh you’re overreacting.” He said as he hugged me from behind. I love it when guys do that. It’s adorable.

I loved his hugs. I felt so safe and warm and protected. I also loved the way he smelled. I’m pretty sure it was Chocolate Axe. That is my favorite kind of Axe. Wait a minute Ryan….isn’t that kind of weird that you are SMELLING him? Oh whatever I love him too much to care right now.

We separated from the hug but he kept his arm around me.

“So what’s your idea?” I ask.

“Well we’re shooting the music video for On My Mind soon. We still need a lead girl and I was thinking that you should go to try out. I’m not allowed to just give you the part; it’s against the rules or whatever. But I can put in a good word for you!”

“Yeah, that’d be really fun! When are the auditions for it?”

“On Saturday!”

“I’ll be there” I say with a smile and then kiss him.

“You have a nice smile.” Cody says.

“Thanks.” I say and look at the ground in hopes of him not seeing me blushing.

“Aw well look at this!” I heard a familiar voice say. I knew that voice too well…Rebecca.

“What do you want, Rebecca.” I say, not bothering to cover up the annoyance in my voice.

“I knew I saw you with someone at Dorney. I never thought that it could have been Cody Simpson though. He’s much too good for you. I mean…he can sing, dance, he’s cute, Australian, skinny…and you’re…. an annoying, ugly, fat, tone-deaf, loser who looks like a monkey when you dance.” She says with an evil smirk on her face.

Cody stared with his mouth open, and went to speak but I cut him off.

“I’ll give you ten seconds to take that back and apologize before I smash your filthy face in.” I say.

“I’d like to see you try!” Rebecca snorted.

“10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5….” By 5 I started to get closer to her. She didn’t seem scared but by the time I got to three she flinched and then I punched her right in the face. I’ve waited my whole life to do that to her. She deserved it. She was mean to everyone, and the only reason people were friends with her was because she was rich.

Cody tried to hold his laughter in, but he started cracking up.

“I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST DID THAT YOU LITTLE BITCH!” Rebecca screamed.

“Yeah. Well next time you may want to think twice before insulting me. Buh-bye.” I say and turn to walk away.

“That was….AWESOME!” Cody exclaimed.

“That was the first time I’ve ever punched someone…. I feel so good!” I say with excitement.

Then a realization came to me. Cody WAS too good for me. He was famous. He was talented beyond belief. I wasn’t good enough for him.

“Cody? Do you think what Rebecca said was true...” I asked him.

“Of course not! You’re the most amazing girl I’ve ever met. I’ve never felt this way about someone in my life. You’re an amazing singer. You’re beautiful. I love everything about you. Don’t let her get to you. Every good person has haters.” He said with a smile and then he kissed my hand.

I didn’t know what to say. I was shocked. I thought for sure he was going to say that we should stop seeing each other right then and there. I couldn’t speak so I just looked at him and smiled.

“Let’s get you home. You need some sleep after that big moment.” He said with a wink.

So he walked me home and we got back to my house around 5:30. My dad would be home at 6:00 today.

“Don’t forget about Thursday!” I told Cody.

“I could never forget something like that. It’s too special.” He said. He hugged me and then went back home.

I got inside and I text Jen to ask her how Jake was.

*PHONE CONVERSATION*

Me; hey girl, how’s Jake?

Jen; awesome! My parents love him. They think he’s great!

Me; that’s good! Well I’ll let you have fun with him now. (; bye!

Jen; byee <3
