CHAPTER THIRTEEN
I just kept running until I reached my house. Cody tried running after me but I heard Alli stop him and saying to give me some time to think. She was right. That’s what I needed. It was 6:55. My dad would be on his way to the Simpson's already, if not, already there. I figured Cody and Alli would stall for me if I wasn't there in time for dinner. They'd think of something, I was sure of it.
Ten minutes later I heard rocks being thrown at my window. What the…? I opened my window up and I saw Cody standing there. Of course.
“Please let me up.” He said.
“Why?”
“Because Ashlee means nothing to me anymore, and you deserve to know the whole story.”
Anymore? I thought to myself. So they dated. I get it. I unlocked the front door since I didn’t want to risk him hurting himself climbing up the side of the house. He hugged me tightly for a little before sitting me on his lap to tell me the story.
“Ashlee and I used to date back in Australia for about 3 months. She was a good girlfriend and all but something just didn’t feel right. She was like…obsessed with me. I felt like she only liked me for being Cody Simpson the famous singer; not Cody Simpson the regular guy. So I broke up with her, and she never got over it. It has been 8 months now, and she’s still chasing me. I tell her time after time I don’t want to be with her, but she just doesn’t get it. I was shocked when she showed up at the auditions. But I can promise you this Ryan, the only one I love, and the only one I want is you.”
“I’m sorry Cody. I overreacted. I shouldn’t have ran out like that. It’s just that she gave me such a dirty look when she walked past me. I felt sort of intimidated by her. She was tall, blonde, and really pretty!”
“Why are you always so worried about how pretty you and others are?” Cody asked curiously.
“I don’t know. I guess I’m a little insecure at times…” I say and look down ate my nails.
“But you’re so beautiful Ryan. Don’t let anyone let you think different.”
“Thanks Cody.” I kiss him softly and we walk back to his house.
When we got back to his house, everyone was already eating. Cody and I silently sat down, and started eating. The parents were talking about random little things, and Alli, Cody, and I were doing the same. We were all in our own little worlds. Especially Tom, who was just sitting there playing with his fork. He was so cute!
We finished dinner at around 8:00 and the parents stayed at the table and kept talking. Cody, Alli, and I decided to go on a walk around the neighborhood. Their little brother, Tom, wanted to come along, but Brad wouldn't let him since it was too late for him. We walked out the door, Cody's hand intertwined with mine. It was a really nice night for a walk.
"We should go to the mall together tomorrow, Ryan!" Alli says to me excitedly.
"Sure!" I say back.
"Without Cody..." Alli adds.
"Hurtful!" Cody replies sarcastically. He laughs and then says "I have to decide who's in the video anyway. I hope it's you Ryan. They seemed to like you a lot. We didn't really have to try to act like we loved each other." As we were inches away from kissing a grossed out Alli yelled "EW!" in which the moment was killed.
We walked for about 10 minutes before deciding to head back. Our parents were still lost in conversation so we went up to Cody's room. He grabbed his guitar and held it out to me.
"What?" I ask.
"Sing for me." Cody insisted.
"Nooo."
"Why?"
"I don't know. I get nervous."
"Everyone gets nervous. Pretty please Ryan?" He gave me the cutest puppy dog face ever and I caved. Grabbing the guitar from his hand I ask "What should I play."
"How about On My Mind?" He says with an adorable half smile. God I loved those.
"Fine." I said and with my hands shaking i strum the beginning chords and before I knew it I was singing. When I finished he just smiled at me for a while, then kissed me softly.
"I have an idea......." He says.
