Stan didn't really like his father while growing up, for obvious reasons. He was immature, and annoyed his mother. He also was stubborn, and could never get over the smallest arguments.
Of course, the biggest thing Stan hated about him while being a child, was the fact that he was always high and drunk. Stan hated it. Asking for help finishing a school project while Randy was out of it. He can't forget the multiple times his father was driving under the influence of both alcohol and/or marijuana (yes, sometimes it was both) and terrifying the hell out of Stan with his driving. Stan wasn't really religious, he did consider himself a Christian, and he was born and raised to be Catholic. But he never really took too much of an interest in religion, or what happens after you pass away. That being said, every single time his dad drove while under the influence, Stan put that all aside and prayed.
Stan wasn't a kid anymore. He was a teenager. He was a freshman in high school. He had changed, and unfortunately, he realized something.
He was becoming his own father.
It started with alcohol. While his mom was against underage drinking, his dad didn't mind. He thought it was "manning up" and offered Stan alcohol, even bought it. Then it slowly turned into weed. He once bought from Cartman and Butters, they used to sell weed disposables, basically vapes but with thc in it. Of course, they knew nothing about selling, and planned living together to sell more and make a profit, but that didn't last. They didn't feel like it anymore, and Cartman himself was trying out drugs too.
He then remembered his dad. He owned a marijuana farm. Stan talked to his father, complaining about stress, anxiety, the usual. He knew his dad would let him use marijuana, and that's exactly what happened.
To Randy's defense, the reason he let Stan drink and smoke was so that when Stan was an adult, and legally allowed to, he wouldn't be alone on his on, and go crazy. Randy felt comfortable with Stan doing this as a teenager, so he would always have an adult to help him if needed. He also preferred Stan getting weed from him and his actual business, because he knew if he didn't, Stan would end up buying from a sketchy dealer selling on the low, and risk the idea of being laced.
It was better to be safe than sorry.
Kyle knew nothing of this. He only knew about Stan maybe drinking too much at parties, but besides that? Never heard of it. Kyle was a good kid, he was class vice president, part of the school's diversity club, made straight A's. He finished his homework at school whenever he got the chance, and would occasionally help the middle schoolers and elementary students with tutoring.
Stan never told Kyle about any of it. Nothing about drinking or drugs, he knew Kyle would freak out on him.
Of course, Stan felt kind of guilty keeping this hidden from Kyle. He knew he was gonna tell him eventually, he just didn't know when.
"Stan! Come get the door!"
Stan rolled his eyes from his room, rushing down the stairs after hearing his dad yell. "You can't open it yourself?" Stan asks.
"Don't be a dick, Stan." Randy says, smoking the joint in his hand as he washes a beer down his throat after. "I'm having a self care day and you're throwing it off."
Stan rolled his eyes as he walks up to open the door, and sees Cartman and Kenny standing outside his door.
"What's up?" Stan asked, confused.
"There's a party tonight, and you're coming with us." Cartman says. "I don't trust Kenny's driving."
"Asshole." Kenny mutters.
"Uh, what about Kyle?" Stan asks. "I told him to come over tonight."
"So? Just bring him." Kenny says as Cartman rolled his eyes and scoffed at that idea. "Ew, he's just gonna complain."
