My boyfriend.

My boyfriend.

I have a boyfriend.

Those words have been singing in my head the rest of the week.  Then Christmas break comes.   I've got to say, Christmas here doesn't hit the same as Christmas in Minnesota.  I miss the snow.   Thanks to my family going home for Christmas, I can spend it here with Luke's family.   Luke also told me about his new friends that he plans to meet up with sometime—the ones he met at the hospital.  He thinks it'll be great because they all have girlfriends too.

I sit at home all alone the first day of break. All I hear throughout the house is the clock ticking. All last night, my mom was fighting with Devin once again. The odd thing, though, was my father was fighting too. And he was fighting for Devin.

Then I get a text from Emma.

We arrive at the house of college students. I feel a bit guilty for going, as I have a boyfriend but Emma assured me I'll be fine if I just stick by them.

Apparently Raven and Mia are here as well, and so are some of Emma's friends.

Emma grabs my hand and takes me up to the door.  We go inside and hear the loud music blasting.   She told me that if I want to look hot, I have to learn how to feel hot first, and parties help with that.  We get two drinks and i start to drink quickly to make the uncomfortableness go away.

We go and find the other girls who clearly have been here for a bit longer than us.  Raven and Mia have completely let themselves go.  Ravens dancing with a guy tall curly haired brunette who is standing behind her, holding her waist, and looking down at her with some lustful eyes.  Camden and Nate are also here standing within the same proximity as them.

I chug the rest of my drink as quickly as I can.  Raven grabs the guys hand and walks away with him.

"Is Luke here?" I yell over to Camden.

Emma grabs my arm.  "Forget about him right now, girl!  We're building our confidence!"

I feel her start to pull me away.  I quickly grab Camden's drink before I get too far.  I begin to stumble to keep up with Emma.  She weaves her way around as if she's on a mission. I begin to feel light headed.  Suddenly we stop.  When my eyes adjust, I notice she's gone.  The only person there is this tall, thin guy with a red bandana staring down at me with an awkward smile.

I frantically look around, but I can't find her in the sea of people.

"She went with my friend."  The guy says.  "...I'm Connor by the way."

Once it settles in me that I'm stuck, I realize I can only talk.

"Bea...trice."  I mumble.  Gosh, even my full name makes me miss him.  "Bea's fine.  Everyone calls me Bea."

The guy doesn't say anything.  He just stares while biting his lip,  so I continue.  "Do you go to Hunnington High?"

He barely changes expression when he responds.  "No, Westfield. You're from Hunnington?"

I nod while taking a large sip.

"I heard there were two psychos who were going to shoot it up." Connor laughs. "Can you believe the type of person that would even think to do that?!"
