16 days until graduation
I wake up the next morning on top of Luke, his hand still down my pants. He is out.
I pat his chest until he wakes up. He looks at me so clueless.
"We need to go to school." I whisper to him.
He groans while sitting up.
He drives me to school in his beat up car. We get there a little bit earlier so we just sit in the car. He sits there with his shades and turns on this more blues-y song.
"Led Zeppelin." He says. "This song makes me think of you, actually. I have dreams with this song."
You shook me all night long
I blush looking over at him. We have a song. He doesn't look at me, he just plays around with the compartment in the middle.
"And what are those dreams?" I ask softly as I listen to the lyrics repeat.
Luke switches off the ignition, killing the radio. "I'm sure you'll find out someday."
I step out of the car into the rain and I run over to meet Luke who's waiting for me by the front of the car. He puts his hand on the small of my back as we walk to the doors. The second we step in, Luke goes quiet. When I glance at him, I notice his body becomes very stiff.
In first hour, Luke and I sit side by side like always. Emma glances at us periodically, but she smiles when she realizes that there's no awkward tension between us two.
During lunch, I go to the library instead. Luke told me that his fourth hour has become like a free period now because they're done for the rest of the year. To my surprise, Luke said he likes to read in the library.
When I walk in, I notice all the tables filled. I scan the room, but I can't find him. I walk to the back corner where I know there's a table hiding between book shelves. Finally, I find him with his nose buried in a book. He has glasses too.
I sit down beside him and I scoot my chair as close as I can to his. When I finish my scooting, Luke sighs and takes off his glasses.
"Howre you doing?" I ask him.
He sits back in his chair and lets out a groan.
"Making new memories." Luke whispers. "Just thinking."
I rest my head in his shoulder. "About what?"
"Prom." He replies.
Right as I'm about to question him about it, a door in the library slams closed. Luke flinches at the sound and curses underneath his breath. Mia walks through the shelves. She greets us with her gentle smile and sits down across from Luke and I. She anxiously drops her bag to the floor.
Luke folds his hands. "Ethan's been trying to get a hold of you."
"Yeah...?" Mia frowns.
"You should go to prom together." He explains.
She looks down at the table. "He used me. He wants to kill me too." Then she stands up. "I'm going with Chris anyway."
"What?!" We say at the same time.
Mia doesn't say much more. She pushes her chair in and she disappears through the bookshelves. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Luke's leg bouncing immensely. I reach my hand down and I rest it on his thigh. Seconds later, the door closes and he flinches again.
"Oh Chris would still be number one if-" Luke stops himself mid sentence.
