It was Founder's Day and Rapunzel was excited. She approached Alaric the day before about attending high school and he told her that he talked to the principal and she would start next week, meaning Founder's Day was the perfect opportunity to get to know some of her future classmates.
Rapunzel walked with Damon; her arm interlinked with his as they approached Stefan who stood waiting for Elena.
"Look at you, all retro," Damon observed, looking at Stefan's outfit.
"You look very handsome, Stefan," Rapunzel complimented him, to which Stefan mouthed back his thanks, before turning emotionless at the fact that his brother was there.
"What are you doing here?" Stefan asked him.
"Why wouldn't I be here?" Damon questioned back rhetorically, "Bonnie deactivated the Gilbert invention, Isobel is gone and it's Founder's Day! I'm here to eat cotton candy and steal your girl."
Rapunzel nudged him hard in the side for the last part of his sentence, to which he shot her an annoyed look back, but she ignored it. Stefan scoffed.
"Don't start with me Damon," Stefan asked his brother, but he should've known that Damon would continue it.
"Oh, you started it, Stefan with that whole "I'm insecure, leave Elena alone" speech. I'm still enjoying that."
"As long as you heard it," Stefan replied, unbothered by Damon's antics. Rapunzel rolled her eyes, not in the mood to deal with another fight between the two brothers.
"I'm gonna go socialize," she told the brothers before leaving, hoping to soon find someone she knew.

Rapunzel happened to run into Caroline and Bonnie, and the three got along great, then Matt came along, and the four were having fun conversing, with only two in modern clothing. She enjoyed hanging out with people "her age", and when she told them she was joining school, Caroline was so excited and started ranting about what they could do.
Then, Caroline announced she wanted pictures, so Bonnie and Rapunzel were standing by the camera, planning to take a picture of Caroline with her Miss Mystic Falls banner and Matt in his suit.
"Say cheese!" Bonnie told them, about to take the picture as the couple smiled at the camera. But then Caroline turned around to tell Matt, "Oh wait! Hide your cast, it's not era appropriate."
"Seriously?" Matt asked his girlfriend. To which she replied "Yes!" Matt agreed and they switched sides so Matt's cast was hidden behind Caroline. Rapunzel shared a smile with Bonnie at the girl's antics, before the witch took the photo. None of them saw another guy approaching from behind, dressed in era-appropriate military uniform.
