Somewhere in the Mystic Falls woods

Damon had been walking for hours. He didn't know what to do. He had spent so long trying to open that tomb to get Katherine back, but she wasn't even in there. She had never been. She hadn't cared for him; not as much as he did her.

He had never not had a goal before. So that's why he was just walking in a straight line into the forest. He didn't really know what to do next. And that's when he bumped into a stone wall. Words couldn't express how happy he was that no one came into the woods with him and therefore no one saw that. Looking forward instead of at the ground, Damon realized that it wasn't just a stone wall, it was a whole tower of stone.

"What the hell?" Damon muttered to himself. Taking a step back to properly observe this tower he randomly stumbled upon. After he concluded that yes, it was real, Damon looked around, trying to see if anyone was nearby or  any reason there was a huge tower in the middle of the woods. Finding nothing standing out, Damon sped round the tower, trying to see if it really was a stone tower or if it was a cardboard cut out or something similar. In doing so, he realized that it wasn't a cutout. His one final check to see if it was there, was to reach a handout and touch the stone wall, and yes, it was real.

But Damon had a stroke of luck as, by pushing against a certain brick on the stone tower, a door opened, and Damon slightly stumbled forward before regaining his balance. Weighing his options out in his mind and concluding that he had nothing better to do nor anything to really live for or care about, he decided to enter. He immediately regretted it, when as soon as he stepped in, the wall closed behind him. Swearing under his breath, with minimal vision, Damon fished out his phone from his pocket and turned on the flashlight.

He looked around the tower he entered. It seemed a wide expanse of space, but it was pitch black, and looked decades old, with worn bricks, grass for floor and the dreadful smell of rat droppings. He wished he could turn back as there seemed to be nothing in the tower, until he spotted a stone staircase to the side of the tower. Not even hesitating, Damon sped up the stairs, wanting to exit as soon as possible. The stairs spiraled around the inside of the tower, up and up and up, until it came to a stop at a large wooden door.

This time, Damon once again hesitated, before putting his hand on the icy metal handle, pushing it down and yanking the door open. He was immediately blinded by the attack of bright light. He covered his eyes with one arm, while using the other to put his phone back in his pocket, not needing it anymore. He stepped forward, letting the huge door slam shut behind him. A few seconds later, Damon was used to the light and put his arm back to its place by his side. His eyes widened at the sight before him.

It was an entryway to a home, and it looked completely different to the entrance. First off, someone had plastered and then painted the walls so you couldn't see the stone on the outside. Second off, someone had redone the floors, laying down wooden flooring. It was the perfect mix of both elegant yet modest, leaving Damon in shock. But what shocked him most was yet to come, as he heard light footsteps come racing into the room he was in, while an angelic voice shouted "Mother!"

His eyes widened, as in came a girl with beautiful blonde hair, with a bright smile on her face, shouting "Mother! You're back- "but then she was stopped as the sight before her wasn't of her mother and was instead a raven-haired vampire with a shell-shocked expression on his face. To Damon's surprise, the girl's smile didn't falter, as she commented, "Well, you're not my mother then, are you?"
