I really need to take a moment to thank you all for reading, voting and commenting on this book because I have supported my little idea so much and I really didn't think that this book would get the attention it got but it makes me so happy that it did.
It feels so strange that I have been writing this story since August 2023 and now it is July 2024. This has been something that I have thought has been very fun and something I have longed to work with during my free time and it is so nice that it is appreciated and that people like it.
This is the end of book one and I can hardly believe it's over already. It doesn't feel okay at all but at the same time it does.
I just want to take the opportunity to explain a few things about the chapter and I want to start with Aegon's behavior at the coronation towards Alyssa (when he wants her to bow). The whole point of that part is because I want to have underlying meanings with the characters' actions and I think that what happened in the carriage, when Alicent couldn't give Aegon the confirmation that he really needed at the time, something in him turned of and that made him take out his “disappointment” on Alyssa even if she is the one who has always loved him. I wanted to show that once he got that crown on his head and the people kneeled to him he went from being the most pathetic and weak man in the room (In his opinion) to the most powerful one and so he wanted Alyssa to kneel to him too because he needed that last drop of validation. That is something that I have been working really hard to show in this character, he is a sensitive person, he has a large void that he is desperately trying to fill but it is hard for him to do that when he is constantly in the presence of the person he feels wronged by (Alicent).
Alyssa is also a kind of complicated character in a way Because she has been through a lot and she tries to please others. She tries to please Aegon, as much as she wants to make her sons happy, she wants her mother to be there and be proud of her but she is denied quite a lot that she wants and you will see in book two how she e in book two how she realizes slowly that she cannot truly rely on anyone but herself. In truth I myself do feel bad for her since her journey will not be an easy one. AND IT WILL BE SO FUN to write about her and Alicent's relationship and what happens to it. For as y’all now, Alicent loves Alyssa like her own and Alyssa has also loved Alicent as a second mother during those years Rhaenyra wasn't there. So it will be really fun when everything breaks out and I get to write about their relationship. Something else that I have to say about Alyssa is that she won't be the one who has armor and wars or something because I wanted to do something new.
In many fanfics that I've read, the women are usually warrior-Targaryens (which I absolutely don't mind) but Alyssa is not that type of character. She will fight in her own way and in a way I think is more fun and better to write.
There was something in the comments that asked me if I should keep the timeline of the dance and if I should make any changes and the answer to that question is yes. As you already know, all the characters are older than what is in the book and the series. And the war will be longer. I really hope that you will like the changes I will make but I will try to keep it somewhat realistic and not go completely off the rails. As you already know, all the characters are older than what is in the book and the series. One thing I just want to make clear is that the dynamic between the characters will not be the same as in the TV show because there are a lot of things in the series that I think should be changed or that I personally didn't like and want to change. Since I'm a book reader, I'm going to mix the show character and the book character.
