Last night was the best ever. Not only because I finally met my nephew and niece and had a great time with everyone, but also because my son slept next to me. I was able to spend an entire night cuddling with him, all the time, and nothing could be better than that, I'm sure. It's amazing how my love intensifies more every day. Even though it's only been a few days since my amnesia, I can understand the immense, unconditional feeling that all parents talk about. Well, most. It's something you can't measure. You love that piece of person who've been given birth by you, and it will always be a part of you, you want to take care of and protect from everything.
Think that in future when you come into conflict, they won't understand that your concern is just excessive care. The cycle of life is for parents to raise their children, and when the time comes, they leave them. It's not supposed to happen the other way around. Thinking about Leo does me really good, and I want to take care of this boy with everything inside me. I am capable of giving my life for my son, I am sure of it. The mere thought of losing him almost suffocates me. I will do the impossible for him. I want to make up for the forgotten years and have new unforgettable moments. I will follow every moment of his life.
- "Mommy!" The door is opened suddenly, and a cheerful Leo walks through it. I sit down to look at him and, with a huge smile on my face, open my arms so he can hug me. Last night was little too much. I feel his damp hair touch my skin, and the smell of perfume mixed with soap indicates to me that he has taken a shower.
- "Hi my love." I kiss the top of his head and close my eyes, inhaling his perfume.
- "Did you sleep well?"
- "Yes!" he exclaims, letting go of my waist and standing next to the bed. My eyes scan him quickly: he's dressed in his high school uniform.
- "The only thing missing is Mom with us."
- "Leo!" Valentina enters suddenly, and I let out a sigh of relief. We haven't talked to him about latest development yet, and I wouldn't know how to explain to him our situation now. I look at her and see her annoyed expression.
- "Didn't I tell you not to run on the stairs? And why did you wake up your mother?"
- "Hey! No need to fight with him" I interrupted and Valentina looks at me spraying me with her eyes.
- "It's just a kid acting like a kid; besides I was already awake, I just hadn't gotten up yet." Valentina continues to stare at me for few seconds. I thought she is going to yell at me, but she just took a deep breath.
- "Leo, go down now and finish your breakfast."
- "Sorry, Moms" he mutters, before obeying Valentina's order. With his head down, my son walks out of the room, and it squeezes my heart. I feel like picking him up and rocking him in my lap, but her presence here makes me feel awkward. It even looks like she got into a fight with me too.
- "Really Luiza? I know you haven't gotten used to it yet, but don't ever scold me in front of him again. He's a child, yes, but he needs to know the limits, and you covering him up give him the freedom to disobey others, we don't want to raise a rebellious kid who doesn't respect anyone right? Excuse me..."
Valentina runs her hands over her makeup-covered face, but doesn't smudge anything. On a quick look all over her body, I see she is dressed casually, yet elegantly. Tight jeans, discreet sneakers, a plain white shirt with long sleeves, folded up to the elbows, and perfectly brushed hair. She was nothing like the Valentina I remember from the past. It really takes time to get used to.
- "Get up to take a shower and get ready, or else we'll be late."
- "Where are we going?" I ask as I crawl across the bed, I put on my slippers as soon as I stand up and tie up my hair. They must be like a bird nest.
