Zane lay still as Cole carried him through the halls. He had to transfer most of his power to maintaining his human disguise. That meant he couldn't move. He was thankful that Cole was helping him, but the two of them received a lot of strange looks from passers-by as Cole ran through the halls carrying his limp form. Anyone other than Cole wouldn't be able to lift his titanium frame. Cole rushed him into a room the Zane could've sworn wasn't there before, but it must've been his systems malfunctioning. Cole laid him down then used a chair to keep the door closed. He raced back to his friend.

"You're all good, buddy," he said. "You can let down the disguise." Zane felt his systems rebalance as he lowered his disguise, revealing his metal body. He carefully sat up and began to analyze his systems, trying to figure out what happened to him. "What happened back there?" Zane shook his head in confusion.

"The only thing out of order seems to be unnaturally high stress levels." said Zane in confusion. "But that alone couldn't have caused this." Zane was confused when Cole smiled sympathetically.

"You ignorant tin can," he said affectionately. "You went through a really traumatic experience! You have PTSD! You just saw your worst fear! Of course you're stressed." Zane's ice blue eyes widened.

"And this is affecting my inner workings?" He looked down at his hands, beginning to panic. "What if it causes me to malfunction further?" He felt his systems overworking, but he couldn't stop it. Cole looked at him in concern.

"Hey, ice cube! It's okay! This experience- it's part of being human!" Cole explained quickly.

"But I'm not human! I'm not normal! This isn't normal!" Cole quickly wrapped his arms around him in the most wonderful hug he'd ever received. He froze. After a moments hesitation, he hugged him back.

"The only thing not human about you is how you look," said Cole. Zane smiled.

"Thank you, Cole," he replied. They sat like this for a minute or two, in pure happiness and affection. The moment was interrupted when an electric jolt ran through his circuitry. He made a gasping noise and pushed away from Cole.

"Zane? Zane what's happening?" asked Cole. A moment later it happened again. He cried out in shock. A strange sensation coursed through him. It was a sensation he hadn't felt in a while. Not since he'd had his old body. It could only be described as pain. He clawed at his metallic skin, screaming in agony. He fell back against the ground. He could hear Cole yelling in the background, but the horrible sensation only thing he could focus on. He screamed, closing his eyes. The pain only increased when the feeling began to centralize over his heart. He felt its energy pulsing out at rapid speeds. An electric shock ran through him, down his arms and into his fingertips. He began to claw at his arm plates, ripping off pieces of them in the process. Sections of wiring were exposed, and Cole could only watch in horror as his best friend began to tear himself apart. He felt another jolt of power run down to his fingertips, then another, and another. He squeezed his hands tightly. Then he felt something pierce through his palm. He looked down at his hands, his heart pulsing at sonic speeds. Ice shards? Then it hit him. Elemental energy. He looked at Cole and saw the pure terror is his amber eyes. Then he stood up and spread out his arms. He stopped trying to hold back, he let his powers take over. Icy energy burst out from him in all directions. When he opened his eyes, there was snow all around him. He looked to Cole who stood there in awe. Zane looked at him curiously.

"What?" he asked quietly.

"Z-Zane," Cole stammered. "Zane look at yourself." Zane looked down and was shocked. His school uniform had vanished and was replaced by a snow white toga-like robe that flowed in a non-existent breeze. He glowed an unearthly white light. His arms were perfectly repaired and shone with a beautiful glossy surface. Beneath his feet was solid ice. He took a step, ice appeared beneath his foot. He smiled broadly.

"Fuck yeah!" he exclaimed happily. Cole laughed.

"Zane! Watch your language!"

"Aw, shut up this is awesome! Or should I say... cool." Cole groaned. A scream sounded from outside the room. Zane looked at the door in confusion. "What was that?" Cole shrugged. Zane started towards the door.

"Wait!" cried Cole. "What about your disguise?" Zane scoffed.

"Screw that! I look fabulous!" said Zane, flinging his arms out to the sides dramatically. "Haters can go suck some ass." And with that Zane continued towards the door, ice appearing beneath his face as he walked.

"I don't know what's gotten into you, Zane, but I like it!" exclaimed Cole as he ran after him. The door swung open and the two ninja stepped outside the room. The hallway was completely empty. "Weird. This hallway is never empty." They continued down the hallway. As they headed closer to the hall, they heard screams and crashes. They quickened their pace. Once they got to the doors, Zane paused.

"Cole, watch this." he said mischievously. He stepped forwards and flung the huge double doors aside in one swift motion and set eyes on chaos. Spells were being blasted everywhere, people were running and screaming, and several things were on fire. "ENOUGH!" Zane yelled in a booming voice. The students froze and looked to see who spoke. Their eyes landed on Zane's impressive, glowing figure and gasped.

"DEMON!" cried someone. Zane looked and rolled his eyes when he saw it was Malfoy. Aw shit, I didn't think this through. Unfortunately some people agreed as several spells were launched at him. Without thinking, he jumped. He launched into the air, lifted by a pillar of snowy air. He tumbled back down and landed gracefully on Ravenclaw table. Many more people screamed and fired spells. With a flick of his wrist, an ice wall appeared before him. He climbed on top of it and looked out on the mass of witches, wizards and warlocks before him. He stood there in silence for a moment. Suddenly a voice cried out from the masses.

"Avada kedavra!"

The spell hit Zane in the side and he cried out in shock. He tumbled off the tower of ice and landed with a hard thump on the table. His angelic robe transformed back into his school uniform and the glow surrounding him faded.

"ZANE!" screamed Cole in terror. He charged through the crowds, shoving people aside aggressively. He knocked his fellow students to the floor as he rushed to his friend's side. He turned to the crowd, his eyes clouded with rage. "WHO DID THIS? YOU BETTER FUCKING FESS UP! IF YOU DON'T I WILL KILL YOU ALL JUST TO MAKE SURE WHOEVER DID THIS IS DESTROYED!" Slowly the crowd parted to reveal a small black haired girl. Cole ran towards her and shoved her into another table. "YOU KILLED MY BEST FRIEND!"

"He's a demon!" she cried out, clutching her side.

"HE'S NOT A DEMON! HE'S A FUCKING ANDROID!" yelled Cole. Several people made noises of realization. Cole assumed that those were the Muggleborns. During the moment of silence, the gravity of the situation finally settled in on them all. Cole's shoulders sagged and he collapsed onto his knees. He put his face in his hands and sobbed quietly. People around him lowered their heads. Even the girl who killed him finally seemed to realize what she had done. He was gone. Zane; his best friend, his brother, was dead. And there was nothing he could do.

Oof. Sorry to leave you here, but the chapter was getting really long and I'm in the mood for cliffhangers and major character death. Oh well. Sorry Zane fans. I love him too, he's one of my favorite characters. But he's just so easy to kill! The producers do it every other season! Anyway, thanks for reading!
