Blossom and Snowdrop

Pixal stood alone in the Hufflepuff common room. She paced back and forth, trying to figure out what had brought her and her friends here. She tried to remember the day the ninja disappeared.

Flashback time!

"Zane, do you read me?" asked Pixal.

"I read you loud and clear, Snowdrop." Pixal smiled at her nickname. Zane had been calling her that for a while and she truly enjoyed it. Then she had an idea.

"Just checking in on you, Blossom."

"Blossom. I like that." They landed their vehicles and walked into Junsuina Village. A screaming woman ran up to them.

"Please! You have to help us," she wailed desperately, holding her infant child. "They're destroying everything!" Pixal and Zane looked at each other in concern and ran towards the town center. People ran screaming in all directions. Men and women in black cloaks were setting fire to buildings, chasing families out of their homes, and terrorizing the general populace. Pixal and Zane didn't hesitate. They sprang into action. They knocked the villains to the ground and slammed them up against walls. The others in the cloaks took one look at them in action and fled. After the two made sure that they were all gone, they coaxed the townsfolk out of their hiding places.

"I didn't know the village was under attack," commented Pixal to Zane. "Why didn't Lloyd inform us?"

"I am not sure. But somehow this seemed a bit too simple." A boy ran up to them and tugged on Zane's gi.

"Hey, Mr. And Ms. Robots! I saw a bad guy over there!" The child pointed over to a dark alleyway. Zane smiled at him.

"Thank you. What is your name?"

"Piers," he said. "Piers Polkiss."

"Thank you Piers," said Pixal. She and Zane cautiously moved closer to the alleyway. As they got closer, they saw a violet light dimly glowing in the darkness. Curious, Pixal moved closer to it. Soon she saw that there was a figure cloaked in black, standing there, holding a peculiar purple stone. The two partners grew closer to the figure, step by step, but before they could get close enough to get a good look, it saw them. It turned to them with two red eyes. Pixal almost shrieked. Its pupils were slits, like a snake's eyes. It saw them and dropped the gem. It scurried away up the alley way and out of sight. Pixal watched it disappear in awe. Then she watched as Zane carefully picked up the object it had dropped. He turned it over in his hands.

"Fascinating. I have never seen anything like this."

"It doesn't appear to be from our realm."

"But how?"

"Well, whoever or whatever dropped it certainly wasn't from our realm either."

"Shall we go back to headquarters to find out more?" Pixal nodded in agreement. They walked back to their vehicles, nodding off thanks given to them by random civilians. Zane started to place the crystal in his vehicle when Pixal stopped him.

"If that object is dangerous, I do not want it in your vehicle."

"I could say the same to you."

"You're much more valuable to the team."

"You're much more valuable to me."

"You've died enough times, it's my turn."

"Well now I'm made of titanium. I'll be fine. It's going in my vehicle."

"I just can't lose you again."

"Neither can I." They paused for a moment. Eventually Pixal sighed.

"Alright. You take the stone. Just promise you'll be in contact with me the entire way." Zane smiled.

"I promise." He planted a quick kiss on her forehead before they climbed into their vehicles. Occasionally during their flight, she would ask Zane if he was alright. He would reply with a 'yes love' and they would continue to fly. Once they got back to the monastery, Nya ran up to them.

"So how was your date?" Then she saw the glowing gem. "What's with the rock?" Pixal and Zane look at each other and then back at Nya.

"We ran into a bit of trouble in the village," explained Zane. "And we encountered a strange creature holding this crystal. Pixal and I were planning on performing some experiments on it." Nya smiled.

"That's perfect! The team and I just finished cleaning up the HQ basement as a little surprise for you two." Pixal grinned.

"Oh thank you very much, Nya!" Pixal exclaimed. "I have been meaning to clean it for so long, but have never gotten the time to do so!" She and Zane walked briskly into the monastery and pressed the button for the elevator. The stone illuminated the elevator as they descended into the dimly lit lab. The elevator doors opened and they stepped through. Every surface shined. "I was not aware that it was possible for our friends to accomplish such a deep clean."

"Neither was I," agreed Zane in awe.

"Let's get to work, darling." Zane nodded and they began. For hours they experimented and tested, but to no result. Just as they were about to return upstairs, something happened. Pixal gathered her things and started to make her way upstairs, Zane close behind. But then she paused. "Precious, did you hear that?" Zane paused and listened closely.

"Do you mean the strange whirring sound?" he asked. She nodded. Then the sound began to get louder. Then she realized it was coming from the crystal. She gasped as she saw that what used to be a faint glow was getting brighter and brighter. She dropped her stuff and Zane screamed. The heard the elevator ding from behind them. The two partners turn to see their friends ran out of the elevator.

"What's going on?" Lloyd asked. "We heard screaming!" Pixal pointed fearfully at the gemstone. Then, as if the universe was trying to prove that things could get worse, a wormhole appeared in the ground.

"Oh, damn! Shit, I wasn't going to swear! Oh, FUCK!" Pixal screamed as the wormhole began to pull them into it. She tried to reach for something to hold onto, but there was nothing to grab. All she could do was flail helplessly as she was pulled into a void of time and space. When she opened her eyes she was alone. She floated around helplessly among bits of debris. "Zane? Blossom? Hello?" No one answered. She didn't know how long she floated there, it could have been hours, days, weeks, months or even years. But at some point a portal nearby. Her metallic chest swelled with hope as she clamored through the debris into the portal. The next thing she knew, she was sitting in the forbidden forest.

Flashback over! :)

If only I knew what the creature we encountered was. Then maybe I could figure this out. Out of the blue, she felt a pain in her chest - right over her heart. Her heart that used to be a part of Zane's. This only happened once before, after the battle with the golden master. Then she gasped with realization.

"Zane!" she ran out of the common room, trying to remember where she had last seen her boyfriend. The great hall. She ran faster than she ever ran before. But when she arrived at the hall, she knew she was too late. The ninja were huddled around a table. "Zane! NO!" She ran past them and leaned over him. All the life was gone from his eyes. "NOOOOOO!" she sobbed. Zane, her blossom, her true love, her darling, the one that was most precious, was gone.

Damn, that was a long chapter! Sorry it took me so long to publish it, my cousin was getting his appendix removed, and we went down to Florida, and I had a big test I had to study for. Also, shoutout to @asrynix for helping motivate me to finish writing this chapter!

P.S. Shoutouts are given to people who make suggestions for stories, give me tips on my writing style, motivate me to continue writing, etc..
