First Of Her Name

115 after the conquest / 166 years before Daenerys Targaryen.
- red keep, king's landing

IN KING'S Landing, most people were asleep, it was way past the normal hour. The light rain over the city put most to sleep faster than usual since the year was well past the normal warm weather in the Crownlands.

But in the far chambers of the Red Keep, the midwives and Princess Rhaenyra were not asleep. The room was filled with the muffled sound of rain, clear pained groans, and screams by the newly wed Princess Rhaenyra.

All of the midwives in the room with her were trying their best to keep the Princess calm with the most challenging part in childbirth and labor.

They were ordering Rhaenyra to push every so often and as much as they feared for the Princess and the babe, they couldn't help but wonder how the heir to the throne was already with child and giving birth since she and Ser Laenor only married around seven moons prior.

Still the matter didn't occur much to them and rather that Rhaenyra's newborn babe and firstborn child was just ready to be born. Only quicker expected than what most thought.

But the midwives also feared for the young girls health- her own mother, Queen Aemma, lost her and her last babe's life during the childbed.

It always took the pregnant Rhaenyra a moment to do as her midwives told her since she was always afraid of the childbed. She always told her mother that she never wanted to have children and to deal with the pain she was dealing with right now.

All she wanted to be was a warrior on the battlefield. It all seemed like too much to deal with, and a part of the Princess was right, everything she was feeling right now was complete agony.

But as soon as she heard Elinda, her closet Handmaiden, tell her that she could see the head of her babe, Rhaenyra knew everything that she was feeling was all worth it, like her mother had once told her days before her last breath.

Princess Rhaenyra cried out as she pushed again, what she really hoped was the last time, and the midwives around her kept comforting her as the seconds passed. Then it all fell silent in the chambers of the Red Keep, almost too silent, the rain outside started to pour harder on to the city.
