CHAPTER NINETEEN The Last Feast
LIGHT CHATTER and occasional laughs filled the candle-lit room that would soon hold a final family dinner under His Grace the King's command. Around the long table was his whole, divided, family.
On one very end of the table was Lucerys and Baela's seats. To their right sat Daemon and Rhaenyra and to their left was Rhaena, Jaehaera, and Daenaera's seats.
Sitting on the same side of the table as Dany was Jacaerys, Helaena sat on the left side of her husband. Saera sat on the opposite end of the long table, from where Baela and Luke sat, with Aemond on her right side. The Hand of the King and the Green Queen sat across from Helaena and Aegon. And in between Rhaenyra and Alicent was a fairly open space that was reserved for the King and his chair.
Since the dinner hasn't started yet, Prince Aegon and Aemond stood on their end of the table by Princess Helaena and Saera, they whispered to each other about things neither of the twins could care to hear.
The Realms Promise didn't pay any mind to what her older brother and husband were saying to one another and instead her eyes kept traveling to the girl that resembled her parents all too well.
She couldn't deny that one part of her was contented when Jaehaera arrived back to King's Landing after many years. Still nothing had convinced her to forgive the Dragonborn and nothing would ever convince her to forget.
As everyone either conversed or drank the wine from their goblets, Jaehaera didn't say a lot to her family around her and rather listened to them while she sat with her own cup of wine in her hands. She did not have much to say yet.
Daenaera was sitting down next to Jaehaera as Jacaerys stood between them, her left hand rested on her small bump. She and Jace talked and laughed together since this was the first time they have been able to have a large dinner like this— with their whole family, though Princess Rhaenys had to attend to her good-brother's cold body.
Baela stood on the other side of Rhaena while she spoke to her and Lucerys. And the Dragonborn could tell that her little brother was nervous to be speaking, and soon married, to the beautiful girl beside him.
Princess Rhaenyra must've noticed too because she soon joined in on their small conversation, her only daughter watched with a knowing smile of how her younger brother felt.
