Alex woke up and Erebus was still sitting on the bed beside him, watching over him. Alex wondered if he'd moved at all.
"Go back to sleep. It's early, beautiful." Erebus whispered.
Alex slid his hand into Erebus's, pulling it up to his chest. Erebus smiled and brushed some hair out of Alex's face.
I'm a dumb ass, but I don't think I'll survive without this man.
"You're a total dumb ass, and I love you for it."
"Shut up."
Alex tried to get back to sleep, but he couldn't. He wasn't tired and it was too bright outside.
He suddenly remembered the plans they'd made last night. They had to explain everything to Caroline, they had-
"Caroline's still asleep." Said Erebus. "Ajuki is watching her, she and Adrianus will let us know when she wakes up. Don't worry yourself."
Alex sighed. "Why are you inside of my mind?"
"I don't know, why am I in your mind?"
"You know what I mean."
"So I can make sure you don't start thinking unthinkable things."
"Well, if they're unthinkable, I'm not sure how I'd be thinking them."
"Very funny, smart ass."
Alex thought about last night. It had been amazing and so very unexpected. He didn't know where his sudden trust had come from, but he felt like he'd trust Erebus with his life. Well, in fairness, he kind of had to, since Erebus was the only reason he was alive.
After a few minutes he heard the closet open.
"She's awake. I mean, kind of. She's waking up. Very slowly."
"Great, thanks." Said Erebus. Two people walked through the closet and out Alex's bedroom door.
Alex sighed and sat up.
"Did you sleep well?" Asked Erebus.
"You know the answer."
"Yeah."
Alex sighed and climbed out of bed. Erebus put his arm around Alex's hips, pulling him back and knocking him onto his lap.
Alex felt himself blushing. "Th-they told-"
Erebus put a hand on Alex's cheek and leaned in, kissing him a bit more lightly than they'd kissed last night.
He slid his arm off Alex's hips, letting him stand up. Alex could still feel himself blushing. Erebus laughed at him a bit.
"Used up all your confidence last night?" Asked Erebus as Alex started looking around for his hairbrush.
"Shut up."
A few minutes later, the two went downstairs, where Sarah and Damien were waiting for them at the table.
"All you guys had to do was walk downstairs. Why did it take you so long?" Asked Sarah.
"It didn't, it was only...five minutes?" Replied Erebus. "We were talking."
A door upstairs opened.
"I'm gonna let you guys explain." Said Damien. "It's early and I'm an asshole right now, so I'm gonna avoid talking at all costs."
"I can't explain things." Said Sarah, looking at Erebus Alex.
