ESHANI'S PERSPECTIVE
"Daadi ji kya aap mujhe pyaar nhi karti?. " ( Grandmother, Don't you love me?..) I ask with a low smile, hoping her to say yes like she used to say.
That yes I love you meri bacchi.
She stayed silent like How she used to be around me—around everyone.
But I knew she despised me.
After what happened years ago.
But it was not my fault.
Right—
Maybe.
" D-Daadi ji aap mujhse baat to kariye!!" ( G-Grandma atleast talk to me) I fumbled pleadingly trying to not sound like crying.
It hurted seeing her like this back then.
"Eshani beta idhar aana meri gudiya" (Eshani sweetie come here My doll) my head turns hearing aunt's voice as she gestures me to come near her.
I walked upto her only to stumble in her embrace and wrap my arms around her waist.
"Mujhse daadi baat nahi krti chachii"Tears left my eyes as I snuggled feeling her motherly warmth.
Her soft palms caressed my hair, pulling me into the warmth of love easing my already tensed mind filled with daadi's actions.
"Daadi aapse bhot pyaar krti hai bacche, Aap aisa mtt sochoo. Chalo ab acche baccho ki tarah rona band kro."( Daadi loves you alot my darling, You should not think like this now be a good girl and stop crying.)She cooes gently pulling me away from the hug and wiping my tears with her thumb.
" K-ya daada ji ma-i itni buri hoo-n?.."(Am I that bad Grandfather ? ) My legs swayed on their own as the swing moves with a soft motion.
My grandpa's hands frozen around the swing as he stop providing the push to continue the swayings.
" Kisne kaha?—Hmari bacchi to bohot hi zyada pyaari hai"( Who said?— My little girl is such a loving child.)He cooes gazing at me sideways while I tried my best to not hold his gaze, not wanting to cry infront of him.
