"I like you."

There he goes again, always confessing like it's nothing and laughing it off.

I rolled my eyes at He Junlin and sighed in annoyance. He's probably bored again. I mean, obviously he is. We don't have classes yet and he's sitting in front of me even if he's not really supposed to be sitting there.

He's resting his head on his folded arms that have been on the back of the chair he's sitting on. It's been a week since he started greeting me every morning and telling me he likes me. At first I would get flustered but now, I'm just annoyed that to him, those three words don't really mean anything.

I'm annoyed because I, on the other hand, genuinely like him. I don't wanna get my hopes up just because he's been teasing me for some time now.

I like that he's so approachable. It's like he has this irresistible charm because people always circle around him and laugh along with him. He's the total opposite of me. I'm just a mere student that's existing in the classroom. I don't get noticed a lot, unlike Junlin.

This doesn't make me envy him, though. In fact, I look up to Junlin because he's like a ball of sunshine to the people around him. He always serves smiles which everyone loves, including me.

He always greets me whenever he sees me. He makes me feel included. I only started getting annoyed when he started telling me he likes me.

"Junlin! I brought the Nintendo Switch today. Wanna play?" Our classmate beamed.

Junlin looked up at him and smiled widely. "Really?!" He stood and was about to walk to our classmate's side but he stopped and looked at me with a smile before waving goodbye.

I watched as he walked towards our classmate with a big smile on his face. I can hear him complaining that he's been wanting to play a certain game on Nintendo Switch for ages.

As soon as he got seated beside our classmate, he looked at me again and it caught me off guard. I was looking at him and suddenly our eyes made contact. He smiled at me again and I immediately averted my eyes from him.

I decided to focus on something else, like maybe read a book or listen to music on my phone. I should really confront He Junlin. I like him and what he's doing makes me think that he's giving me mixed signals.

Just as I was reading, I couldn't help but eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Come on, dude. It's impossible that you don't like anyone yet. It's been months since school started."

Junlin chuckled. "Bold of you to think that I don't have someone I like."

I heard a few of our classmates react to what he just said. After all, he is a popular guy in our batch. And discovering that he likes someone, of course people would like to know about it.

Even I would like to know.

His friends started guessing who he might like but he just kept shaking his head with a smile. He then threw the question at one of his friends so he wouldn't be bombarded with questions anymore. I got uninterested so I didn't bother listening anymore.

...

Classes were finally over. I was one of the students who were on duty in cleaning the classroom. I was left alone after a short while because my classmates said they're going to the mall. I was left with cleaning the board and arranging desks and seats.

I was wiping the board when I heard the door open. I looked towards the door's direction and saw Junlin. He was a bit shocked but still walked in. "Forgot something." He mumbled.

He went to his desk and took out a letter. It must be a letter that someone gave to him. I didn't mind him and went back to cleaning. I heard a zipper unzip and it must've been his bag. He must've put the letter inside there. I then heard that he put his bag down on the desk.

"Let me help you with that."

"It's okay, I can do it." I insisted.

"I know, but let me still help you."

We silently worked together and when we were finished, he smiled at me as I thanked him. I think now is the chance to clarify things with him.

"Junlin."

"Hm?"

"May I ask, why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?"

"You're too nice to me. I know it's in your nature to be kind, but I can't help but be confused because of the fact that you always joke around saying that you like me. I know you're just bored so please at least clarify things with me."

He walked closer to me and stared at me for a second with a serious look. "But I do like you. I'm not a heartless guy to be playing with someone's feelings."

He then handed me the letter that he took just a while ago. I hesitantly accepted it and gave him a confused look. "What's this for?"

"I like you."
