It's already been two months since Haoxiang and I got together, we're happy and contented with one another. I'm really glad I could give him the love he deserves. We're in such a healthy relationship; I want to keep it that way.

I was making paper flowers for him when I received a call. I peeked at my phone screen and it showed that Haoxiang is calling. I immediately picked it up with a smile.

"Hi love!" I greeted.

"Hey." He just replied. His energy didn't match mine, so I sort of felt off. Even so, I shrugged that thought off. Maybe he's just tired. "Are you free right now?"

I looked at the paper flowers I've been making for the past hour then at the clock that's hung on my wall. It's 5:43pm. "Why ask?"

"Can we meet?"

I didn't even hesitate to say yes. I asked him where we could meet and he told me that we can just meet at the playground that's near our school. It's just a walking distance for us so it wasn't a problem for me.

I grabbed my winter coat along with my scarf since it's really cold outside. It's almost New Year, and Haoxiang asking me to meet with him even just for a moment really makes me happy because I get to see him on the last day of this year.

His energy seems off. Maybe he needs comfort. This just makes me want to meet him already. I walked at a fast pace so I can meet him soon enough and give him a hug. He might need it.

Just as I was walking towards the playground, the sun was already setting down. The kids have also started to go home. I saw Haoxiang sitting on one of the swings with a cup of coffee in hand. He was looking down at his feet and it worried me a bit. He looks like something's bothering him.

"Haoxiang." I softly called as I got nearer.

He lifted his head and looked at me. "You're here."

"Mhm." I hummed as I smiled.

He looked at the swing next to him then looked back at me. "Take a seat."

I gladly did as I was told. I held on the swing and started rocking myself lightly. "How was your day?"

"Fine." He mumbled.

Usually, when I ask how his day went, he would always tell me everything in detail. Something's really not right. "You sure? You seem a bit... off."

"I guess you can say that." He mumbled again and kept looking at his shoes.

"Did something happen?" I asked, looking at him. "You can always tell me, you know? I'm your girlfriend, after all."

He let out a deep breath and took a sip of his coffee. "Something did happen."

"I'm all ears." I smiled softly even though I know he wouldn't see it. He's still looking down.

"How do I say this?" He asked himself. He sighed before sitting up straight and looking me straight in the eyes. "My ex, she came back."

My smile slowly dropped along with my heart. "What?"

"We had closure, and we'd like to try again."

Every word that came out of his mouth felt like daggers being pierced into my heart. My eyes started getting watery. This was all too sudden for me.

"What about me?" I slowly asked, trying hard not to cry. "But... we're already together. Why.. why would you want to try it again with her?"

He rubbed the back of his neck and looked away. "You see, I never really felt like this relationship's for me."

"What are you talking about?"

"I actually only dated you because I see her in you. You remind me of her so much."

Tears started falling on my cheeks as he spoke.

"Now that she's back, I can't waste this opportunity to try it again with her."

"But I loved you." I softly said.

"I know, I'm sorry."

"An apology can't fix how much you broke my heart. I thought everything was going well between us both. Was I the only one thinking that?" I sobbed.

"Look, I'm really sorry. I felt so lonely and when you came along you resembled her so much."

I stood up with tears flowing down. He followed my action and looked up at me. Because of these mixed emotions, I walked up to his front and slapped him. "I am my own self, Yan Haoxiang. I'm not some replica of someone else."

He stayed silent, not moving an inch after I slapped him. I felt my tears stream down and drop one by one. He couldn't even look me in the eye.

"Good luck to the both of you." I simply said and ran back home.

What a way to celebrate New Year's Eve.
