I went to the gymnasium to look for my ID since I think I left it there. I saw a boy in his basketball uniform. Number 34? I haven't seen him in the basketball team before.
He was dribbling the ball and made a 3-points shoot. I have to admit, he's quite good despite his lack of height and his stature. He took the ball again but slipped from his hand and the ball bounced towards me.
I bent down to pick it up and give it to him. This... this boy's face is quite unique. I gave it to him and he just nodded as a thanks. He then took a glance of me and raised his right brow.
"What?" I asked. He shook his head and went to the corner where his bag is at and took something. He then handed it to me. It was my ID. I bowed to show respect and said, "Thank you!"
I left him there since all he did was stare at me and continue playing basketball. This boy seems unique. I don't know why but my ears turned red when he stared at me.
The next day came by and I tried to look for him again in the gymnasium. As I went in, there he was, sitting on the floor. I went near him and realized he sprained his ankle. I think the clinic is still open at this time of the day.
I held his arm and it was quite tiny, soft, and it looks fragile. His body was petite too, too petite for a boy. I slung his arm over my shoulders and put my hand on his shoulder. His shoulder is a bit small. Hasn't he gone through puberty yet?
We walked towards the clinic and I let him sit on one of the beds to call the nurse in her office. "Oh, you carried her here?"
Her? Maybe I misheard the nurse. "Ah, no, I assisted him here."
"Good thing you took her here as soon as possible, if not then I won't be here right now."
Why do I keep hearing her instead of him? I really need to clean my ears.
(third person pronouns (we're talking about the singular forms) have the same pronunciation but different intonations.)
I bid goodbye and went home. There's something unique about him, I just can't put my finger on it.
Eventually we got close. We only meet each other in the gymnasium and play basketball together, and sometimes we talk privately there. The only thing is, he barely even speaks. He would only gives me gestures.
As time flew by, I slowly started to develop feelings for him. Everytime we have skinship, my ears go red. He's always on my mind. Maybe... it's the time that I confess to him. I know, he won't accept me after this, but at least I'll let him know about this.
"Um," he took of the eartip of his earphones and looked at me, "I have something to tell you."
He paused the song being played on his phone and paid attention to me.
"I... like you. I know it sounds gay but, that's just how I really feel. I know that a boy liking another boy is silly, but- "
"Pft!" He puffed out a laugh and rolled on the floor. Did I say something wrong?
"Wh-what's the matter?"
"Y-you still haven't figured it out that I'm a girl?!"
"H-huh?"
"I'm a girl." He said. More like, she said.
"H-how can this be?"
"What do you mean, 'how can this be?' I am a girl even from the day I gave the ID to you. I thought you noticed I was a girl."
"You're not a boy?"
She flicked my forehead. "I really am a girl!"
"So, is that why you're tiny?" I asked while rubbing the flicked spot.
She smacked my head and clicked her tongue. "I'm not tiny!"
"I mean, your body is different from the boys. That's what I noticed."
"You noticed that but didn't notice I wasn't a boy?"
I scratched the back of my head in embarrassment. "I guess it's much better to confess again now that I know you're a girl."
"You already confessed. Don't confess again!" She waved her hands in front of me with a flustered face.
