“First of all, tell me wae didn’t you call me directly? You called Naksh. Not fair, Bhaiya.” I whined, pouting slightly.
“I did it intentionally. I’m sure you thought I was angry at you because you didn’t inform me about being in India. Right?”
Bhaiya said, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. I slapped his shoulder lightly, a playful reprimand.
“I’m not angry at you, but Mummy and Papa surely are.” He continued, pulling me into a warm side hug.
“I can manage them.” I declared confidently.
I was, after all, the Princess of my parents. They couldn’t stay angry at me for long.
“Narmada aunty called me.” He stated as we pulled away. “I know. Naksh told me.”
He nodded. “She didn’t need to do that, you know? Manish is my best friend.”
I smiled. “Yes, bhaiya. But aunty didn’t know about that. She invited you on my behalf.”
Bhaiya was about to say something else, but then his eyes landed on Ruvit.
“He…?” Bhaiya questioned, pointing at Ruvit with a curious raise of his eyebrow.
“How come you forgot me, Vinayak bhaiya? You remember your best friend but not his younger brother?” Ruvit interjected smoothly, answering before I could.
“Oh,” Bhaiya’s eyes widened in recognition. “I remember you, Ruvit.” He stepped forward and pulled Ruvit into a warm hug.
“Also, I’m Aridhi’s best friend.” Ruvit added, glancing at me with a charming grin. I blushed, hiding my cheeks from him.
Nope. He didn’t say girlfriend, Aridhi. He just meant best friend.
Then wae are you blushing? My brain teased.
“Yeah, I get it. Aridhi used to tell a lot about you.” Bhaiya smiled, a genuine warmth in his voice.
Of course, my whole family knew about Ruvit—my younger self was too attached to them.
I had shared everything since childhood, and they had never judged me or stopped me from anything.
“We can talk later. Everyone is looking at us.” Abhir stated, his voice a little strained, gesturing subtly at the curious onlookers.
