“Agar girne ka itna hi shauk hain, toh mere pyar mein hi gir jao na, princess.” Ruvit smiled sheepishly.
His words made me flush scarlet, my heart fluttering uncontrollably.
Love? He said.
Was that an indirect confession or was he just messing up with me?
“Aren’t you getting too comfortable with my sister?” Vinayak bhaiya’s voice cut through the air, sharp and narrowed, as he folded his arms.
His unwavering gaze was fixed on Ruvit.
“Is it a bad thing?” Ruvit countered smoothly, gently helping me stand straight, his grip firm and gentle.
“You both are just friends, right?” Bhaiya piped up, his eyes darting between us.
“Nope.” Ruvit shook his head immediately, a wide, defiant grin spreading across his face.
My eyes widened, bracing myself, but then he added. “We are best friends.” I let out a silent sigh of relief, a nervous chuckle escaping me.
Bhaiya didn’t say anything. And I could feel that he was doubting us—our actions.
And honestly, I didn’t care.
No matter how close we siblings were, we never interfered in each other’s privacy.
Ruvit scooped me up in bridal style again, effortlessly, despite my soft hiss of pain. “Sorry.”
I tried my best not to blush because of a simple, gentle apology. “It’s fine.”
He smiled at me before making his way purposefully to his car.
A sudden shade of pink covered my cheeks as I remembered his previous declaration about his car.
“This is my car and I never allowed anyone to touch even its keys and you made me sit in the passenger seat just like that?”
He unlocked his car with a quick click, the door opened automatically as he carefully made me sit in the passenger seat.
Everyone watched us, expressions of utter shock plastered on their faces.
“Mummy?” Manish bhaiya said. “He’s our Ruvit, right?” He asked his mother, completely bewildered.
Before she could even answer, Ruvit looked at them, a stern, almost possessive glare in his eyes.
“I’m Ruvit, your brother, indeed. But this side of me is only for Aridhi. It’s like I become a different version of myself around her.” He stated, settling into the driver’s seat.
Manish bhaiya nodded, narrowing his eyes, nevertheless.
Ridhima and Rishika were looking at the scene as if this was a fairytale moment.
