“Baby.” Ruvit’s sudden declaration sliced through the quiet air of the park, pulling me sharply from my emotional abyss.
What was with this sudden, dramatic appearance?
And a single word, just one syllable from this boy could make me, Aridhi Agarwal, the Business Queen, blush?
The heat in my cheeks was undeniable.
Just then, my eyes darted to his wrist. His bracelet. It was blazing, a beacon of light.
As if drawn by an invisible thread, my gaze flickered to my own wrist. And damn, my bracelet mirrored the same glow.
“You were missing me?” Ruvit asked. A smug smile played on his lips as he held up his glowing bracelet.
Uhm.. was I?
I didn’t know.
The question hung in the air, but seeing him here filled me with an almost overwhelming surge of satisfaction.
It was a warmth that spread through my chest, chasing away all the remaining remnants of my grief.
I felt as if my eyes had yearned only for his sight, unknowingly desperate. And now that he stood before me, they were surely blessed.
“So you came here because I was missing you?” I countered, a playful challenge in my tone. Unknowingly, I walked towards him, the steps almost eager.
He nodded, a ridiculous, boyish bob of his head. “I can come even if you weren’t missing me.” Then his eyes twinkled mischievously. “But you miss me all the time.”
The audacity of this narcissist man made me twitch my lips.
Who said I miss him all the time? I was far too consumed by my work and my ambitions.
Yet, wae the hell did I blush?
Whenever he appeared before my eyes, or even dared to invade my thoughts, I couldn’t help but feel my entire body reacting in some or the other way.
It was maddening.
I glanced at my watch, a flimsy excuse for an escape. “Shouldn’t you have been in your office at this time, Mr. Busy Person?” I teased, masking the tremor in my chest. “Or are you too free to meet me whenever I miss you?”
The bait was laid. And he won it effortlessly as the words rolled out smoothly from his lips.
“Busy for others. Free for you, sweetheart.” His voice held a teasing tone as he directly stood in front of me now.
