"You mean, Rod? This weekend?" I repeated.
"Yes, why?"
I stopped eating when I realized I discovered something I shouldn't have. Nagsimula akong kabahan.
Di mo bet?" she asked worriedly.
Umiling ako. "I-I'm fine. Medyo sumama lang ang pakiramdam ko. Feeling ko, magkakasakit ako."
"Really? You want me to take you to the clinic?" She offered. There was a hint of concern on her face, and even if she was eating her favorite ice cream, she put her spoon down to take care of me. I smiled a little. I am just thankful for having a best friend like her. It's the little things that have big impacts.
"Okay lang ako. Tsaka sige, sasama ako sa inyo this weekend."
The knot on her forehead disappeared as she flashed a beautiful smile, hinting that she was so excited to be with me.
Dumating na ang araw ng Sabado. Jhon Rey was preparing his stuff while I was sitting on the couch, watching him.
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay here?" He inquired while he was putting on his backpack. It seems as though he is all set to travel.
I smiled.
"Alright, call me when you need me. I'll be here immediately."
The intensity of the pounding that was going on in my chest became more overwhelming "You're with Paolo Rod, right?" pahabol kong tanong.
"Y-yeah. Didn't I tell you?"
Ngumiti ako. "You did. Huwag mong kalimutang ikumusta ako sa kaniya. Hindi ko siya masyadong nakausap last time kasi inasikaso kita."
Natawa naman siya. "Alright, alright. Don't stress too much; I might get jealous of your closeness." I winced, but I made sure I hid it.
"All right, all right. Get out of here now before I do something to prevent you from going," I joked, which made him laugh.
"Okay. I'm going now. See you later." He kissed me on the forehead before he finally left the house.
The instant he shut the door, the smile that had been on my face vanished.
"He's lying," I murmured. Why would he lie in the first place?
"Are you alright, Sheen May?" tanong ni Rod.
"Sheen May, ayaw mong maglaro?" Rod asked, holding the bowling ball.
I smiled and shook my head. "Hindi ako marunong."
"Nyek, eh di subukan mo." Nagulat ako nang sumabat si Aaron. Totoo ba? He's mocking me? "How would you know if you never tried?"
"Tsk. Pa'no ba kasi?" Good thing Rod had quick reflexes to help me.
"The objective of this game is to eliminate all ten bowling pins in a single turn," panimula ni Rod. Anne sat there and listened in silence. I'm willing to place a bet that she doesn't know either, which is why she's inquisitive.
"Make sure you're holding the ball properly. Your feet should be somewhat apart from one another, and the foot that you'll be sliding with should be placed slightly in front of the other foot." "The foot that you use for your slide will be the opposite of the hand that you use to bowl. So kung right-handed ka, you'll slide with your left foot."
"Release the ball," Rod signaled. I maintained looking straight-forward. Huminga ako nang malalim before I swing my ball arm smoothly back and then forward to release the ball.
"Strike!" she shouted.
"Did you see it? Napatumba ko!"
"Yes yes! I'm so proud of you, my best friend!"
"Good job, Sheen May," puri ni Rod.
"Thank you, but I doubt if I can do it again."
"That's fine. At least you have come to know the feeling of reaching your goal," sambit niya habang itinataas-baba ang mga kilay.
Nakakatuwa, parang nakahanap ako ng anti-stress sports for me.
"Wow, talaga ba Anne? Sa pagkakaalam ko isa ka ring bully. Bagay nga kayo!" Inirapan ko siya.
Natawa naman si Rod. "We're happy na nag-enjoy ka, Sheen. Sayang lang, wala si Jhon Rey."
As soon as Rod spoke that name, the smile on my face vanished.
"Bakit nga pala hindi siya sumama?" Aaron asked. They both looked at me, waiting for my answer.
