A/N: I didn't want to do the Shiori Carvella prompt, so I wrote this based on Shiori mentioning self-cest on a stream.
The winter wind howled through the towering pines that guarded Shiori Novella's secluded home, nestled in the outskirts of Inkwell. The ordinarily temperate forest now lay beneath a blanket of pristine white snow, transforming the landscape into a tranquil winter wonderland. Shiori, a girl with golden eyes and hair split between black and white, was engrossed in a book as she sat by the fireplace in her cozy personal library. The warmth from the crackling fire contrasted with the cold world outside.
Shiori reveled in the Christmas season by wearing a Santa-style fur-lined coat and a puffy red cotton jacket adorned with white buttons. A red scarf with white lines completed her festive ensemble, a departure from her usual gothic attire. The snowfall outside painted the world in serene white, the perfect backdrop for an unexpected encounter.
As Shiori turned the pages of her book, a soft rustling sound caught her attention. She looked up, expecting to see the flicker of flames or perhaps a stray snowflake dancing on the windowpane. Instead, she locked eyes with another Shiori Novella, standing at the library's entrance.
The doppelgänger mirrored her appearance but wore a different expression – one of curiosity rather than the hostility that emanated from the Shiori by the fireplace. The newcomer's eyes, like liquid gold, met the gaze of her counterpart with a mix of wonder and realization.
"Hello there," the intruder greeted, her voice melodic, echoing the original Shiori's tangential musings. Your library is quite enchanting.
Shiori blinked, momentarily forgetting the chill in the air and the flames beside her. "Who are you, and how did you get here?"
"I'm you, or rather, another version of you," the parallel Shiori replied, a friendly smile softening her features. "I come from a different universe but couldn't resist exploring this cozy haven you've created."
The golden-eyed Shiori couldn't help but be intrigued. As much as she liked to immerse herself in fictional worlds through her books, meeting an alternate version of herself brought a new level of fascination. The atmosphere in the library shifted from tension to a peculiar calm as the two Shioris began to converse.
They exchanged stories about their lives, discovering the similarities and differences that emerged from each of the diverse paths. The doppelgänger shared tales of her adventures, while Shiori, with a hint of embarrassment, admitted her culinary mishaps despite her love for cooking.
"I once tried to bake cookies for a friend," the parallel Shiori confessed, laughter bubbling in her voice. "Let's just say they resembled charcoal more than anything edible."
Shiori chuckled in response, realizing that her culinary misadventures transcended the boundaries of parallel universes. The camaraderie between the two grew, and soon, they found themselves engaged in a delightful banter that echoed through the snow-laden trees.
With a mischievous glint in her golden eyes, the alternate Shiori proposed, "How about we take a break from our respective universes and go on a little adventure together? A date, if you will."
The idea appealed to Shiori's sense of spontaneity. Once a sanctuary of solitude, the library became a portal to a shared experience between two versions of the same soul. The Christmas season added a touch of magic to their journey as they stepped into the snowy world outside, leaving footprints in the pristine landscape.
They strolled through the winter wonderland, discussing the intricacies of their favorite books and their worlds' nuances. The parallel Shiori marveled at the uniqueness of her counterpart's universe, from the quaint town of Inkwell to the ethereal beauty of the snow-covered forest.
As they walked hand in hand, the bitterness that had initially marked Shiori's encounter with her other self melted away like snow under the warm touch of the sun. The golden-eyed girl found solace in the shared laughter and camaraderie, realizing that meeting herself from another dimension was a gift rather than a threat.
Underneath the snowy canopy, the two Shioris discovered the beauty of connection, transcending the boundaries of parallel universes. The cold, wintry landscape transformed into a canvas for a peaceful adventure, leaving behind a tale of two selves finding harmony in the serenity of a winter's day.
