A mother is a protector,
they are to pick you up when you fall down.
They are suppose to hold you when you're scared
They are supposed to provide for you.
A mother is someone you can go to when things don't seem right
A mother is someone who makes you feel safe.
You used to be that
I used to go to you for everything,
when I fell,
When I was getting bullied at school,
When I got asked on a date,
You were the one I ran to for everything.
I thought you were taking care of me
But then, then I didn't realize how much I was really taking care of you
How much I protected you
How many times I picked YOU up when you fell.
when things were going wrong
You relied on me to survive
For money
For protection
For happiness
You relied on me to keep you alive
To keep the family together
To keep them in line
You were supposed to be my protector, but when it came to the moments I fell you didn't pick me up, you held me down
When it came to the moments I was scared, you weren't there to hold me you were the one scaring me
You didn't make me feel safe anymore
You didn't feel like my mother anymore
A mother is suppose to protect their young, you weren't protecting me from the dangers of the world
You were putting me in them
A mother is supposed to hold you, and tell you they love you, you didn't hold me you pushed me away, said you didn't need me anymore, told me to go away.
You made me feel unimportant, unworthy, unlovable
A mother is supposed to make you feel like the world
You took that from me
You're not my mother
Not anymore
