"COME ON ALEX DON'T BE LIKE THAT." HE PLACED HIS HAND ON HER arm, rubbing softly.
"you know something sakusa," the now angry girl spoke, sitting up. "i'm nothing but nice to you. throughout you constantly bullshitting me and hiding me from everyone and hurting me, i'm nice and caring towards you."
"well-"
"no." she spoke sternly, sakusa taken aback. "you're always so mean, and i try to push it aside and not think too much of it, but damn kiyo, you're such an asshole sometimes. you'll be so nice to me sometimes and make me feel so good and give me hope and-and then you go right back to just being a dick."
he looked at her now feeling offended. "hope? hope for what, for us?"
"wow look at you being smart." sarcasm oozed from her voice as she laid back on her side facing away from him, tucking herself back in.
"well it's not my fault you're gaining false hope." he spoke, standing from the bed. she turned her head around, giving him a dirty look. "i never told you i wanted a relationship out of this."
"get out." she spoke up sitting once more, sakusa looking back at her.
"what?"
"get the fuck out. i don't need you talking to me like that, like you always do with your little comments. i don't even know why i ever started messing with you, you're nothing but a self-centered asshole!"
sakusa scoffed, pulling his shirt over his head. "whatever alex, this is why i don't do relationships."
"kiyoomi, you don't do relationships because you don't know how to love."
he looked at her for a moment before shaking his head and leaving her room. he grabbed his things, slipping his shoes and his sweater on. he scowled as he opened the door, slamming it harshly shut.
she jumped at the noise, settling back into her now empty bed. she tucked herself back in for the last time, closing her eyes as her bottom lip quivered, regretting the words she spoke.
that night, alex cried herself quietly to sleep.
_________
days went by, and sakusa never once heard from alex. inside he wished she would text, checking his phone quickly every time he got a notification, and he was let down each time.
he sat in his last class of the day, foot tapping aggressively against the tiled floor. he hadn't been focusing the entire time, scrolling endlessly on his phone.
he was in his photos, constantly running into pictures of the pair. he'd click on them each time, showing a soft smile to each.
the monotone bell sounded, everyone gathering their things and departing. sakusa left, his face still in the screen.
