Worst is yet to come

Chapter 6

Sejin looked sorrowfully at the two rappers huddled together in the corner of the room. It had only been a couple of minutes since they got the news and both of them didn't have any tears to shed anymore after crying their hearts out in his arms and Sejin felt like crying along with them. They were currently stuck in the worst nightmare imaginable, but he also knew that the situation could become worse just as fast. Jimin and Jungkook were in the hands of attackers who were absolutely not joking around since they had detonated multiple bombs in a huge crowd of innocent people and shot one of their bodyguards. And the ransom that the men had demanded was too high to be fulfilled within the hour, that Sejin knew for sure. But even if they had days to gather the money, he knew that the police would never agree to give it to the attackers. The money wouldn't guarantee the safe release of the boys, instead it would give the attackers more power; more money to hire more assistants and get more advanced weapons, and plan more attacks like this in the future. But still, Sejin hoped that the police would make an exception this time since the boys were high-profile idols and the world was watching along with them. If one of the members would get seriously hurt or worse, it would turn into global news in a heartbeat.

Their fame however, was also the main reason why they were stuck in this situation at the moment. The members wouldn't have been targeted if they weren't getting success after success while becoming one of the richest idols not only in Korea but worldwide. That was already clear after receiving death threats daily. But no one could have imagined that people were capable of doing something like planning a massive attack in a public place like this. It must've taken months of preparation and the thought alone caused goose bumps on Sejin's skin.

A crackle of the radio attached to the bodyguard's vest made Sejin snap out of his thoughts and his stare at Hoseok and Yoongi.

"They have two more, check your phones. I repeat, they have two more boys"

Sejin's eyes went wide and he immediately turned around to look at the two members. But this time Hoseok and Yoongi hadn't heard the radio and kept sniffling while starting at the ground in front of them. So the manager decided to turn back around and step closer to the bodyguard who petted his vest as if he was searching for something. The man's eyes then found this broken phone on the ground next to the door and he cursed silently under his breath.

"Hajun-" Sejin tried to get his attention, but the bodyguard held his hand out to silence him while the other hand went to his radio. "My phone is broken. What's the video about?"

The radio went silent, so Sejin wanted to try again to get more information but the bodyguard ignored him as he kept focusing on the radio for a reply.

"Taehyung and Namjoon are taken" the man on the radio said, causing Sejin to gasp in horror and stumble towards the closest desk so he could hold onto something. But he didn't have much time to process the first message because the radio started to talk again "They're hurt. I repeat, we have more casualties. One shot, one unconscious, three are awake but at least two of them look injured."

"Hajun, please..." the manager begged, and it was only then that the bodyguard finally breathed out and looked sadly at Sejin "I'm sorry Sejin, I-"

"Please I need to know what the video was about"

"My phone is broken..."

"They can send it to my phone"

"You know we can't Sejin... It's protocol" the bodyguard mumbled sorrowfully. The manager sighed heavily and tried to control the tears that were forming in his eyes. The world was breaking apart around him and it was slowly suffocating him. He was supposed to take care of the boys. His boys. Even though they hired multiple bodyguards, Sejin felt like he was the only one responsible for their health and safety, so he felt like failing massively right now.
