Y-n povI stared at myself in the mirror as music boomed through the whole manor, making my whole room vibrate.
I observed the dreamy white silk dress around my figure, along with the black thigh-high boots clinging to my thighs. I finish the outfit by adding a pair of black fuzzy angel wings.
"Perfect." I catch Venetia's eyes through the mirror. She smiles widely as she makes her way inside my bedroom to get a closer look at me, "You possess both innocence..." her index finger drags down my silky white dress, "... and darkness." she flicks the black angel wings behind me.
Innocence and darkness?
"It fits you exquisitely."
"Thanks V." She smiles as she gets closer. Her hands gently cup my face. I stand in place as I feel her drag her glittery-filled thumbs against both of my eyelids. Shimmery silver eyeshadow nicely decorated my eyelids along with the smokey black eyeliner I had on, "All done." she proudly looks at her work. I smile at her, liking my makeup look.
"Come along now." Her fingers intertwined with mine as she took ahold of my hand.
We both giggled on our way down the long staircase.
I join the beautiful Elspeth downstairs as I help her greet her guest. I feel a bit nervous not having Felix by my side. I look at the clock beside me watching as it turned 7.
What is taking him so long?
As I begin to get worried, he appears right before my eyes. Felix stormed down the hallway with a furious expression on his face, my heart dropped. Oliver followed behind him with a desperate effort, like a puppy.
I quickly move around the guest while following them down the long hallway.
"Felix." I attempt to grasp him, but he pulls his arm away. His dark brown eyes meet mine. They soften as he realizes I'm standing beside him. His eyes fill with betrayal, "What's happened?" My throat becomes dry as I become anxious.
A million thoughts cross my mind.
Felix opens his mouth to speak, but before he can get anything out, Oliver stands before us, catching his attention.
As he looks at Oliver, his eyes become dark again. They glimmer with anger.
"Felix—- please just let me explain!" Oliver makes an attempt to reach for Felix's arm—- Felix quickly steps back not wanting to be touched by him, "I think the best thing is that you go home after your party." My eye widens with shock at Felix's behavior towards Oliver, "It's too late to cancel it now anyway. We'll have your party tonight and I will see you back at Oxford."
"And we can still be friends though?" Felix cynically bursts out laughing at Oliver's question,
"Are you mad?"
"I-I don't even know why I said that Felix. It was stupid—-"
"No, it's fucking weird, it's what it is mate." Felix grabs onto my arm pulling me behind him, away from Oliver, "You're a fucking liar Ollie." I feel confused as I watch the situation before me unfold.
"Why would you lie?" Oliver looks down at the ground as he fills with self pity.
"... I just wanted to be your friend." The meekly boy in front of us sulks. Felix takes ahold of my hand, "Look, let's just get through tonight." Oliver steps forward causing Felix to take a step back.
"Could you not tell your family."
"Of course not! Fucking hell—- it's already dark enough." Felix gives Oliver his back as he begins walking away from him. He pulls me along with him. I look over my shoulder making eye contact with Oliver. His once sad eyes were becoming darker as he watched us leave.
