Meanwhile, in the city of rondel, considered one of the most important cities of the empire, tensions had erupted.

In the aftermath of the first war against sadera, the British peace deal required that they be allowed to establish a garrison in rondel, giving them some control over the empires trade. Despite many protests from both saderan and British officials, the deal was made, and British troops quickly entered the city.

However, many in the city of were some of the wealthier members of saderan society, who didn't exactly take kindly to the British policing their actions. As well as this, many soldiers of the sovereign protectors of rondel, who had been the defenders of the city for the last 200 years, felt as though their jobs were being taken from them.

However, easily the most angered was the duchess of rondel herself, kanegaru. Easily one of the most prominent pro-slavery, anti-demi-human figures in the empire, she felt the mere presence of the British soldiers alone threatened her power. As well as this, kanegaru had been one of the members of the empire who had revived one of the few British slaves who were Brought back through the gate, and was furious at having her slaves taken from her.
