To the southeast of the United principalities of elbe lies the city of Synadria. The city was considered vital to the imperial navy, as it allowed them to control the entrance to the arcanan gulf.
However, since the beginning of the saderan civil war, the city has not been under the control of the imperial forces. With the bulk of the army on the front lines, revolutionary forces took control of the city and declared themselves independant from the empire, naming their new state the principality of vitakia, after the vitakia province the city was located in

The principality quickly adopted a policy of armed neutrality in order to set up a proper government, meaning that, while it was supposedly neutral, it maintained a continuous garrison on its official border with the imperial state. While the imperialists refused to accept the principality as a legitimate state, their focus on the war with the Republic meant they couldn't do much about it.
The principality decided to go for the approach of a constitutional monarchy. The monarch would have some level of control in the government, but most power would go to a democratically elected organisation. The figure chosen to be the new monarch would be a woman from the United Kingdom by the name of Alessandra penrosia, now known as Princess Alessandra.
