She wandered around the Tardis when they got back. The Doctor had told them to just start walking and trust their instincts, so their ways had parted around five minutes ago. Winnie had already walked past the swimming pool, a library where she couldn't even see most of it, it was so big, and something that looked like med-bay with a lab inside.
Now she was in front of a Tardis-blue door with circular golden symbols on it. Trusting her instincts as he had said, she opened it. You would think she noticed the furniture first, or at least the bed, but her eyes were immediately drawn to the ceiling of red swirls and stars peaking through the apparent nebulas.
Before she could even focus on anything else, the Doctor suddenly stood behind her, "What are you doing in my room?"
"Huh?", she turned around to the confused man, "You said trust my- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."
He tilted his head and furrowed his brows, "Why did she take you here? Why did you take her here?"
There was a hum and the bedside lamp brightened for a moment.
"You talk to the Tardis?", she asked.
"Often", he shrugged, "You've been here for two days, who else was I going to talk to?"
The lamp lit up red for a moment. Winnie laughed, "I don't think she likes being your second choice."
"She?", he smiled at her with narrowed eyes, "How did you know?"
"Trusting my instincts. That's how I ended up here", she shrugged, "So, do I not have a room, then? Does the Tardis want us to share?"
She was going to laugh at the ridiculous statement but the Tardis almost seemed to purr after that so the Doctor scolded her, "Give Winifred her own room, please."
"She really planned for us to share a room?"
"She's got past present and future running through her system all at once, of course she was going to get it mixed up sometimes", he shrugged and pulled her out of the room before she could question the statement.
The hallway started to light up like a runway at the airport. And he pulled her along as they followed and then they ended up in front of a red door, again, golden circles on it, but different ones.
"That's not her name", the Doctor told the Tardis.
The hum that followed sounded like the Tardis had shrugged. That would be Winnie's interpretation and apparently the Doctor agreed so he sighed and turned to Winnie.
"Okay, before you open the door just imagine what it could look like", he put his hand on hers and led it to the doorknob.
Winnie squeezed her eyes shut and opened the door. She opened them to see a room she'd seen in a travel magazine for Bali. One wall was completely made of glass, jungle behind it and a bathtub in front of it. A large four poster bed with white curtains and white bedding stood just off to her left and the wall behind it was free standing.
She walked around it to reveal a wardrobe filled with clothes she wished she owned but didn't, plus some clothes she assumed she'd need for different eras. A glass door on the other end led to the rest of the bathroom with a rain shower and other necessary facilities.
"You know what, I bet you would love to test that shower after what we've been through. And after that we'll meet in the console room for Naples, Christmas Eve, 1860", the Doctor told her and left.
She took a breath and started to undress. When she took the jean jacket off the Doctor's slightly psychic paper fell out and onto the floor. She picked it up and opened it, "Hello Sweetie."
