The harbor was bustling that night. The local cruise liner, the SS Fleming was about to set sail, with a huge crowd of tourists boarding for their evening trip back to Hugaria.
Yor had changed into her Thorn Princess outfit for her mission, with one target in her sight, Mr. J. Yatabe, bloodthirsty mafia tycoon. Despite her professionalism at blending in, she had to stay hidden and find some way to enter the ship undetected. With the long, slow line and high security, sneaking onboard the luxurious vessel would be quite the daunting task.
While taking cover and sneaking into the surrounding shadows, Yor nearly bumped into a strange, but formally dressed man. Upon seeing her outfit and weapons, he calmly greeted her, "Ah, you must be the backup that was called in." Yor was confused, but immediately thought to herself, "Oh, maybe he knows the person who summoned me over for help."
The strange man kept a serious look, but made sure to introduce himself to this new acquaintance, "Agent Crow." he said, keeping the conversation brief. Yor found herself taken aback by the strange name, but formally stated her name, "Briar Rose, the Thorn Princess." she said professionally.
Crow nodded in acknowledgement as he led her around the harbor until spotting an opening on deck, "Ok Agent Rose, I will need you to hang on to me." he told the Thorn Princess as she clung on to him. Crow fired a grappling hook at the railing and hoisted them both onboard.
He gently set her aside upon landing before dragging her into hiding, "Keep your voice down Agent Rose," he warned, "and don't call any attention to yourself." Yor nodded, "Right" she whispered, "And you can just call me Briar Rose, no need to be formal." Crow sighed, "Oh great, a wise guy." he thought to himself.
The ship blew its horn as it left the dock. Agent Crow took Yor by the hand and led her through the hallways, "Now, more likely than not, our target will be in the casino. He's known for being a champion at anything that falls under gambling. Poker, roulette, slots, you name it. Let's just hope he bets his life away tonight." Yor was impressed, she had never gambled in her spare time. She rarely had that much money to bet, as well as prioritizing her job and family.
Once inside the casino, Yor tried to stay focussed, but was fascinated by the bright lights, exuberating noises, and chips flying everywhere. "So, where can we find our target?" she asked Agent Crow while attempting to maintain focus. "We need to just blend in and get intel before we strike," Crow explained, "besides, he can't know I'm here."
He sat her to the left at a table as they joined a match of poker with a lovely couple. The dealer handed out the cards and chips as Briar Rose examined her hand curiously. She watched anxiously as Agent Crow withdrew two cards, with two more being drawn in their place. The husband on the other end eyed her, and noticed her discomfort, "Draw?" he asked. Yor tried to play along, "Sure!" she smiled as she handed all five of her cards over to him, "Go fish!"
He stared in confusion as Agent Crow did everything in his power not to lose his composure, now was not the time for jokes. The wife placed her hand over her mouth and leaned over to her husband's ear "My, my, she certainly is a fish isn't she?" He snickered at her remark, knowing all too well about poker terminology.
Before they continued, Yor's deck was returned to her. The opposing team placed their cards down, with Agent Crow revealing his deck in response. The Thorn Princess followed suit as the other team sat in shock, "Unbelievable! A royal flush!" She had no idea what it meant, but it sounded like a good thing. All of the little chips were placed in front of them, with the couple barely comprehending what happened. Agent Crow turned to her in admiration, he had never seen somebody play dumb to this degree in order to win a match of poker. "She is good," he thought to himself.
