The catacombs grew deeper, darker, and eerier as The Thorn Princess continued her rescue mission. She had to save Crow, if he was even alive. After some more exploring, she could pick up the scent, along with a faint ticking noise. That had to be him! The door was sealed shut, but for somebody with enough firepower to break a hammer toss game and come out of a car crash with only a few wounds, this was no match for her.
Once the door was open just wide enough for her to enter, she was relieved to see Agent Crow alive and well, at least for somebody strapped to a weapon of mass destruction. "Forger?" Crow sighed with relief, "You came back for me?" Yor smiled, "I can't leave my partner behind." Agent Crow had been hoping for her to return, but after all he said to her, the number of times he had pushed her away and undermined her, she still came to his rescue.
"Ms. Forger." Agent Crow lowered his head as he prepared to tell her something she never heard him say, "I'm sorry for how I treated my partner. You have done an amazing job. You've overcome countless trials, stepped outside of your comfort zone more than any person would, and I've been a very uncommendable leader. You're more of an agent now than I have ever been." Yor more than accepted his apology, sensing the sincerity in his voice.
After a few quick rounds of sawing her stilettos back and forth, Yor had cut the bonds off Agent Crow. "Alright, do your thing!" she told him. Agent Crow finally wiped to sweat from his dark, shoulder length, raven hair and got to work deactivating the bomb. The only thing he had to do was pull a simple plug. The timer stopped, but Crow grew concerned. There was no way the deactivation could be this easy, even the average civilian could have done it.
"Uh, Agent Crow?" The Thorn Princess asked out of worry, "I think this might be part of our problem..." She motioned towards a series of wires, spawning for what seemed to be several miles deeper into the catacombs.
As they followed the wires, a sense of familiarity washed over Agent Crow, followed by dread, "Mrs. Forger," he gasped, "I think these are leading towards Lundawn's clock tower!"
Above the underground labyrinth, the ceremonies continued. Anya's excitement had turned into the typical boredom of a child having to sit down, be quiet, and listen to other people talking. She could feel herself slipping into slumber, before her head landed on Becky's shoulder. Mr. Henderson was seated just behind them, "Ms. Forger," he scoffed, "Mind your manners, please." Anya slumped down and apologized as the next school began their speeches.
Crow searched around the dark halls, "There's no way we can directly enter the clock tower! We have to go up and find a way inside!" Before he could even look in her direction, Yor rushed up a ladder leading up to a manhole cover. She peered out before rocketing out, the lid soon came crashing down with a loud and totally not noticeable CLANG!
"Next time, try to keep the volume down." Agent Crow advised before seeing that Yor had led them downtown, with the clock tower in their peripheral vision. In the distance, a similar looking figure could be spotted by the clock. It looked in their direction with a shocked and irritated look on its face before sprinting away. "It's him!" Agent Crow called, "He's escaping!" The spy and the assassin gave chase as they were led into the clock tower.
The ceremony continued as Anya snapped back into attention. "Anya, hurry up!" Becky cheered, extending her hand out towards her best friend, "Our school is being called on stage!" Anya's eyes became dinner plates, she had never stood before so many people before. For her, this had to be a billion times the crowd she faced on her first day at Eden Academy. She had no idea where to even look, so many cameras were pointed in their direction with cheers that could be heard on the other side of the planet. If only her mom or dad were here right now.
