I never said it, but I know that I
I bury baggage 'til it's out of sight
I think it's better if I hide it
I really hope that I survive this

Josephine spent 2 days in the hospital. The pain in her leg was unreal even with medication, and it only got worse when they had to change out to gauze and apply medication to it.

But now 2 weeks later, she was home and her father was in charge of cleaning it, Josie was not having any of it.

Eddie softly knocked on the teenager's bedroom door while turning the knob. When the door opened. He spotted Josie lying in her bed, eyes shut and blankets covering her chest.

The small elephant sat next to her on her bedside table, and sometimes she would just stare at it.

It broke her father's heart.

Jo was quiet though, she didn't really want to talk to anyone besides Chris. And when Chim and Eddie both came into the hospital room, she instantly shut down.

She understood why they did it. She was just mad that she let go of her, and she was taking it out on someone else.

Chim and her father.

Eddie moved slowly towards the bed, being wary of the clothes on the floor. Once he arrived he slowly sank onto the side of her bed.

"Joey?" He whispered softly while reaching over to brush some of her hair out of her face.

Josephine didn't even move.

"Jos it's dinner time."

Josie murmured and twisted her head to the other side of the bed, directly looking into the sunset. She grabbed the blankets around her neck and pulled them over her head, trying to block out the light. "I'm not hungry."

Eddie sighed and pulled the blankets down to her waist, making Josie grumble and complain. "Josephine, you haven't eaten all day. You need to eat something."

Jo rolls her eyes behind her eyelids, her father's worry getting the best of her.

Eddie sighed and patted her arm. "At least sit with us. Chris wants to tell you about his new book."

Eddie stood up and made his way out of the room, leaving the door open and the light on.

Jo stared at her ceiling, the top of her forearm resting on her forehead.

Then, slowly is moved to the elephant. Her stomach instantly twisted. She forced herself to look away before tears rose.

It's definitely been a hard couple of days for Jo. Eddie has been trying to get them to go out but Jo definitely hasn't made it simple.

Especially for Chris.

Example number one:

"Dad, can I go over to the playground and swing please." Chris asked as the three sat on a bench at a playground eating lunch. It was one of those days when Jo was on edge and all she wanted to do was stay home.

Josie's back straightened and she looked over to the playground to see kids surrounding the swings.

Her brain racks up all the bad scenarios that could happen.
