Chapter Seven

{1 Year Ago}

"Focus!" Logan practically snarled the word as sweat dripped down my face, causing my hair to stick to my face.

"Is it just me, or is he trying to kill us?" I glanced at Peter standing next to me, his skin now metal.

"What? You're not having fun?" He smirked.

"You know me." I shrugged as I glanced around the simulation room. It was only nine in the morning and Logan and Storm had some of us down here training, seeing how we'd act if this were a real fight we were in. It didn't seem to matter to them that all of us had actually been in battle before, much less won our battles. Compared to Loki and his alien army all of this seemed to be a walk in the park.

"Incoming." Peter warned, nodding behind me. I spun around on my heel to see a large fire ball coming at us. All I had to do was raise my hand and the fire extinguished itself, turning into just a puff of smoke. "Nice one."

"Thanks," I nodded. Scanning the room I could see the others all battling on another. For this simulation we'd been broken into two groups to fight one another. On one team there was Storm, Rogue, Peter, and myself while the other team consisted of Logan, Bobby, Kitty, and Roberto. Around us I could see Kitty and Rogue battling one another. Then there were Storm and Roberto going at it. The only other ones not in the middle of a fight were Bobby and Logan.

"Which one do you want?" Peter asked me.

"I take Bobby you take Logan?" I suggested.

"Deal." He nodded before heading off to fight Logan. As he ran off I felt frost growing on my hands as my eyes scanned the room in search of Bobby. It only took me a few seconds to find him and he seemed to read my mind, sending a ball of ice at my head. I was able to stop the first one with ease, but the second came too fast, hitting me in the side of my head. A hiss of pain escaped my lips at the impact, with it narrowly missing my eye.

"Really Bobby?" I shook off the pain from the ice and sent my own balls of ice at him, managing to get one of five to hit him hard in the gut. "I thought you knew better than to hit girls?"

"I didn't." He smirked, sending another one at me. It didn't even make it within two feet of me before it became a puddle on the ground.

"I thought Rogue told you, don't play with fire." I sent a ball of fire the size of his head at him, but he quickly ducked, sending more ice at me. I easily stopped it, sending it right back at him. "Your little tricks aren't too helpful when someone older can do the same thing and more."

"I forgot, you really don't act your age do you?" He asked as we continued to send ice and fire flying back and forth, trying find a weak spot in each other.

"Where's the fun in that?" I quipped.

"Knock it off you two." Logan rolled his eyes as he walked over to us while the surrounding simulation ended, signaling that this little session was over.

"Manners Logan." I called after him, earning him raising his middle finger back at me without turning around.

"Good work today." Storm told all of us. "Again on Wednesday, same time."

"Hey, what do you guys say to a little two on two?" Peter asked as he and Rogue came over to Bobby and I. "Losers buy the winners a round?"

"Because that makes complete sense when Logan always has a stock of beer hidden around somewhere." I elbowed him in the side. "Besides, I'm not supposed to leave the grounds. Remember? I'm a prisoner here."
