Chapter Twenty-Three

"Two minutes. Stay close." Steve told me as we headed into the lab building. I just nodded and headed inside right behind him, trying to be as quiet as possible. After a few minutes we found ourselves making our way into lab where we found Dr. Cho laying on the ground, hurt. "Dr. Cho!"

"He's uploading himself into the body." She told us as we hurried over to her side.

"Where?" Steve asked her.

"The real power is inside the cradle. The gem, its power is uncontainable." She said. "You can't just blow it up. You have to get the cradle to Stark."

"First I have to find it." Steve shook his head.

"Go." She urged both of us. Steve hesitated for a moment, clearly not wanting to leave her here alone when she was hurt.

"Steve, come on." I pulled on his arm. He just nodded and followed me out of the lab.

"Did you guys copy that?" Steve spoke to Natasha and Clint through our ear comms.

"We did." Clint confirmed.

"I got a private jet taking off, across town, no manifest." Natasha informed us. "That could be him."

"There. It's the truck from the lab. Right above you, Cap." Clint said. "On the loop by the bridge. It's them. I got three with the cradle, one in the cab. I could take out the driver."

"Negative!" Steve shook his head, even though they couldn't see him. "If that truck crashes, the gem could level the city. We need to draw out Ultron."

"Yes, get he murder robot to chase us." I muttered as we both jumped off of the bridge and onto the truck that was passing below us, just like Clint had said. I stayed on the top and watched as Steve went towards the back, trying to get inside the truck through the door. Before he could though the door blasted off.

"Well, he's definitely unhappy!" Steve pointed out the obvious. "I'm gonna try and keep him that way."

"You're not a match for him, Cap." Clint warned him.

"Thanks, Barton." Steve scoffed as he tried to get inside again.

"You know what's in that cradle?" Ultron asked as he flew out and onto the roof of the truck with us. "The power to make real change, and that terrifies you."

"I wouldn't call it a comfort." Steve said as the two began to fight one another.

"Stop it!" Ultron yelled as he threw Steve's shield away and blasted him.

"Come on!" Steve taunted him as he avoided Ultron's blast. I just stood back and watched until Steve glanced back at me. "I could use a little help here Falconeri!"

"Hey, tin head!" I yelled, gaining Ultron's attention. "Let's play!"

Without a second of hesitation I fired my gun at him and then quickly jumped off of the truck as we crossed a bridge, tucking myself into a ball so I rolled as I hit the train.

"Really? That's the best you've got?" Steve scoffed as he jumped down behind me, landing on the train as well.

"Better than you." I rolled my eyes as I pushed myself to my feet. I glanced up just in time to see Ultron following us down, looking pissed. "Heads up Cap."

"Cap, Falconeri, you need to keep him distracted." Natasha said through our earpieces.

"What do you think we've been doing?" Steve grunted as he continued to fight Ultron. Soon enough I felt the roof of the train beneath us give away, causing us to fall into the train compartment below us. Screams of the passengers filled my ears as they spotted us.
