Chapter Nineteen
Eight Months Later
"Just a little more." I watched as one of the scientists took my blood while two soldiers held me down so I couldn't fight them. In all honesty though, I didn't have it in me to even try to fight them. For eight months, every day, they would come in and take a few vials of my blood. At the beginning I had fought them, trying to keep them from getting my blood, but without my powers I wasn't much of a match for the soldiers. For awhile I'd been able to hold my own but then they had just brought in more men and fought harder against me. It was because of this fighting that I was covered with cuts and bruises, tired belong belief. Though they never told me what they were doing with my blood it was safe to guess that they were trying to find the key to my powers in order to create their own little army. I hated just the idea of being the cause of HYDRA growing stronger.
In this time I had found myself growing closer to Pietro, being that he was the only person that I had any contact with besides the HYDRA soldiers and scientists that came in daily to take my blood or give me another shot of the Cure to keep my powers dormant. Though I still didn't tell him much about my personal life we still had been able to form a bond of sorts, a friendship. He had shared more with me about his life with his sister and how they came to be part of HYDRA's experiments and in return I would tell him about details of my own life. When it came to my life I only told him about certain points of it like while I was on the run and when I was at the school, never did I share with him about my time with SHIELD. I refused to risk HYDRA agents overhearing me or Pietro letting something slip, even if it were by accident.
"Done." The scientist said. I just watched as he walked out of the room with three blood vials in his hands and the soldiers followed him out, the door closing and locking behind them. Once they were gone I pulled my arm up to my face so I could see it, it was still bleeding slightly from where the needle had been in the crook of my elbow.
"Are you alright?" Pietro asked from the window.
"I'm fine." I muttered without glancing his way. I hated that I looked so weak nowadays. It wasn't just from the blood that they'd taken but as well as from the weight loss I'd been experiencing thanks to the fact that they only fed me every few days, and only enough to make sure that I was still alive. As long as I was alive and able to give them my blood they were happy.
"You're lying." He argued.
"I didn't ask you." I shook my head.
"You didn't have to." He shot right back, though I wasn't looking at him I could tell that he was smirking as he said this. He was just cocky, too cocky for his own good.
"Maximoff, you're needed." A guard said from in his room after the door had slammed open. For the first time I looked over at the small window to see him glance back at me, giving me a reassuring smile before he disappeared from sight, followed by the sound of his door slamming closed.
I just shook my head and laid back on the bed, staring up at the plain ceiling. It wasn't too long after that though that I heard the sound of alarms going off out in the hall, alerting that something was happening. At the sound I still didn't move, just laying where I was, ignoring the sounds coming from just outside my door. I just counted the minutes as they ticked by, listening to the chaos that unraveled outside my room.
"Here's a door, it's locked!" I heard someone yell, they're voice familiar. At the sound of it I sat up, my whole body tense.
Was I hallucinating?
It couldn't really be him, could it?
"I got it." I heard another familiar voice say just before the door began to creak. Not a minute later the door was kicked in, slamming onto the floor in front of my bed. I just sat on my bed, my whole body tense, as two people walked into the room, two familiar people.
