Kera:
"Hey, Kera!"
Someone touched her gently on the shoulder and shook her softly. She slowly opened her eyes. The sun was shining on the patch of grass in front of the house, spreading a pleasant warmth.
Before her eyes had come into focus, she had already recognised who had shaken her awake by the aura.
"Kakarrot. What are you doing here?"
She sat up fully and rubbed her eyes. Slowly, she realised where she was. Piccolo and she hadn't made it to bed and had stayed by the fire to explore each other again. It was like being so close to each other for the first time.
"I was wondering if you'd like to train with Beerus. I thought of bringing him something."
He proudly held up a small paper bag with the logo of a well-known confectioner printed on it.
"You're thinking of something like that, but not your wedding day, are you?" Kakarrot grinned sheepishly and rocked on his feet. Kera sighed. "Okay, just let me wake up properly and have some tea."
She squatted down on the tree trunk she had been sleeping next to and took the steaming cup from Piccolo, who handed it to her.
"I love it when you're so forward-thinking." She pressed a kiss to her mate's cheek.
"I was already awake, so why shouldn't I prepare some tea? Would you like some?" he turned to Kakarrot, who declined with thanks.
Kera gave the empty cup back to Piccolo, said goodbye to him and flew with Kakarrot to Vegeta and Bulma's estate.
"Are you feeling better?" Kakarrot asked with a worried expression as the landscape below them hissed.
"Yes. I wanted to..." Kera shook her head. "I'll tell you another time. I definitely need to train. I'm afraid my energy's a bit out of whack."
"Then I've come at just the right time." Kakarrot grinned.
Landing next to the estate's terrace, Kera almost stumbled. She had been so thrown off balance by the sight that presented itself to her on the terrace that she was taken completely by surprise. Vegeta was lying on a lounger in jeans, a green shirt and sunglasses, doing... nothing.
Slowly, she approached him. "Vegeta?" she asked cautiously.
Vegeta took the sunglasses and ... smiled. It was only brief, but it was a clear smile, which almost caused Kera to stumble again. Kakarrot behind was obviously irritated as well.
"Feeling better?" Vegeta stood up as he asked the question with unusual sympathy.
"I think so. I need to train. My energy isn't quite right at the moment. Are you coming with us to Beerus?"
"No."
Kera's jaw dropped. She had asked a closed question that could only be answered with a yes or no, but she had never expected Vegeta to deny a request for training.
"No? Why no?" Kakarrot had jumped forward and was as confused as she was surprised.
Vegeta scrutinised him from top to bottom. "The birth of my child is imminent. I'm not going to miss it."
Kera swallowed. She had rarely visited Bulma lately. She had been too busy with herself. She hadn't seen her at all for the last four weeks and had almost forgotten that the due date was approaching.
"Sorry. I hadn't thought about that. We'll join in the training for you."
She gave Vegeta a kiss on the cheek and pulled Kakarrot with her, who wanted to protest, but when he noticed her look, he gave in and let himself be pulled along.
They disappeared from Vegeta's field of vision, called Whis using the communicator he had given them and travelled with him to Lord Beerus' planet.

"Your energy pathways are flowing a little better now, but you still have some training to do before you can regain your old strength," Whis said as they sat together at the edge of the lake during a training break.
"It was very stupid of you to pile up your energy like that," Beerus lectured her, eating a bowl of noodle soup with relish.
Kera nodded in shame. It was unpleasant that she had treated her body so badly and then ignored all her loved ones.
"Beerus, have you heard anything from King Zeno? He was going to organise a tournament."
"No, I haven't heard anything and I'm very glad about it."
Kakarrot tapped his chin thoughtfully as a thought apparently occurred to him. Excitedly, he rummaged in his suit and finally pulled something out of the folds of his clothes, smiling broadly.
"I still have this button."
Beerus jumped up in alarm. "Don't you dare!"
"Should I call him here or should I go to him?" He turned the button in his hands.
Kera's heartbeat accelerated. He wouldn't ...
Kakarrot grinned, pressed the button and was gone.
Beerus roared and Kera quickly got to safety. When Beerus was like this, it was best to be on the other side of the planet.

"Kera, will you please come back?"
Whis called after her. She listened. Beerus had apparently put his tantrum behind him. At least she didn't hear anything more. Slowly, she walked back to the lake. Kakarrot was standing next to Beerus and Whis, grinning from ear to ear.
"So, what have you done again?"
"We have one hour to find three fighters and travel to Zeno. He and the other Zeno, who I brought him as a friend from Trunks' future, want to see how a fight works."
"Zeno saw us fight against the Sixth Universe."
"But not the other one."
Kera shook her head. "An hour isn't much time. Who are we supposed to take?"
"You, me and Vegeta, I'd say."
"Vegeta certainly won't be coming with us. He doesn't want to be too far away from Bulma."
"You can work that out on the way. Come on, let's go," Beerus grumbled and put his hand on Whis' shoulder.
Kera and Kakarrot touched Whis as well and disappeared with him into a colourful mist and a moment later found themselves in the tunnel of light that allowed them to travel quickly to Earth.
"We could take Gohan with us," Kakarrot pondered aloud.
"Do you think so? Has he really trained again?"
Kera remembered that Gohan had assured Piccolo after the fight with Goku Black that he wanted to train more again.
"Yes, he has been training. Even with me and with Piccolo, as far as I know. Didn't you realise that?"
"Er, no." She blushed. She hadn't really been paying attention to her surroundings for the last few months.
They ended up at Gohan and Videl's house. Kakarrot knocked on the window of the study and spoke briefly to Gohan. He thought for a moment and finally nodded. He disappeared into the house and came outside a few minutes later in his battlesuit and joined them.
"Very well. Then we'll wait..."
Kera was about to ask who else they should wait for when the Supreme Kai stood next to Whis and nodded to the group.
Kera immediately felt anger welling up inside her. She had at least expected the Supreme Kai. She had just managed to regain her composure and tried to come to terms with the kaioshin's rejection.
"I'll take you to Zeno's palace quickly."
Whis and Beerus lined up to the left and right of the Supreme Kai, Kera placing her hand on Beerus' shoulder while Kakarrot and Gohan held onto Whis.
There was a brief flicker and when Kera opened her eyes again, they were standing in front of a palatial building. This had to be Zeno's palace.
