"Are you sure you can survive without coffee?"
Ragini turned around at Sparsh's question and nodded while she was applying night cream on her face.
"But you love it."
"Not anymore. I hate it now."
"You're really strange." Sparsh giggled and went to sleep.
Ragini sat on a dressing stool and could see Sparsh sleeping behind her on the bed. She soon laid beside him but soon realized she was thirsty. She looked around but found no traces of water. So she got up and climbed down the stairs and headed to the kitchen.
The lights were on. She walked in to see Sid making some coffee for himself. She turned around to leave but Sid stopped her by grabbing her wrist.
"Lemme go," said Ragini without even turning around.
Sid didn't respond in any way and so she turned around to look into his eyes with her own eyes full of wrath and resentment toward him.
"Leave my hand and lemme go. What if someone comes?"
"You won't leave if I listen to you, right?" said Sid with his grip getting loose.
Ragini nodded and he let her hand free.
"Why are you here at this time?" asked Sid.
Ragini didn't reply and took out a water bottle from the refrigerator, poured some water in a glass and gulped it down.
"Oh, you were thirsty." Sid took a pause and then said, "Want me to make a cup for you as well?"
"No thanks!" And Ragini left the kitchen.
Sid followed her as they lived on the same floor and it was okay until he pulled her into his bedroom and locked the door.
"What's wrong with you? Have you gone insane? I'm your brother's wife," screamed Ragini, but she made sure her voice was not loud enough for anyone else to hear.
"Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Yes, I've gone insane. I've completely lost my mind. I feel like dying." And Sid dropped on his knees and began crying.
But his tears didn't melt away Ragini's heart. She had begged him, she was ready to confess, she had the courage to speak the truth, but he broke her heart. When he broke up with her and told her that she should get married to his brother, Ragini's heart seemed to have broken into several fragments which could never be mended by anyone in this world. She cried but he didn't listen to her. Filled with rage, she felt a kind of satisfaction when she witnessed him lamenting.
Her inner self told her to go and comfort him or at least tell him to stop crying but her feeling of revenge and resentment for him made her a cold and heartless woman.
"You deserve it," said Ragini before she unlocked the door and left for her bedroom.
Sid stayed on the floor with his eyes turned red from crying.
As soon as Ragini opened the door to her room, she found Sparsh coming toward the door.
"Where were you? I was worried," said Sparsh with brows furrowed.
Ragini showed him the water bottle and said, "I was thirsty. I tend to drink water often at night."
"I know," said Sparsh while they both were in their sleeping positions again.
"You know! How?" asked Ragini, perplexed.
"Have seen you waking up to have a few sips of water almost every hour."
"Not that often. Maybe every two hours," said Ragini after giving it some thought.
Sparsh grinned and shook his head a little at his wife's cuteness and closed his eyes in order to sleep while Ragini gazed at his face, thinking about Sid. She knew that Sparsh was an amazing person and he deeply cared about her. On the contrary, Sid broke her heart and made her cry. She had married Sparsh for her revenge on Sid, she knew Sid would react like that, she knew it'd be a traumatic situation for him and she definitely felt good when she saw him agitated and crying; now when she was with Sparsh, she realized that she was not happy at all.
She didn't want to hurt Sparsh. She just couldn't let it happen, she had come to respect him and couldn't even think of his heart breaking because of her, but, it was already too late.
With all these thoughts in her mind, she fell asleep unknowingly. The whole world was in deep slumber but there was a person who couldn't get any sleep and that person had been awake for so many nights. A deep slumber could take away his worries but, his anxieties and pain would not let him sleep.
It was past midnight and Sid was still curled up on the floor, crying. He was the one who made that decision of breaking up, he was the one who broke Ragini's heart, and it was him who believed that his decision was the best that could be made at that moment. Did he still have the right to lament and cry?
"Bhaiya, when are you taking Bhabhi for honeymoon? It's been a week since your marriage," said Jeevika.
Sparsh smiled and teased her, "When are you going back to your house?"
"Bhaiya..." Jeevika shouted and Sparsh laughed at her, teasing her more.
"We were all so busy and excited about the marriage preparations that we forgot something so important," said Ma.
"Exactly! They got married within a month's period and no one remembered about their honeymoon trip. Now that we do, let's plan it," said Jeevika while her son played with Papa.
"Why are you so excited about our honeymoon, Jivi?" said Sparsh while blushing and smiling both.
"Because I want Ma to be a grandmother and Papa to be a grandfather soon. I'm excited for them," said Jeevika with a pout, teasing Sparsh.
"You talk too much. I'll call Sanjeev and tell him to take you back."
Jeevika hit Sparsh on the back while they both laughed. Ma liked this whole idea of honeymoon and grandkids and smiled at the thought of kids running around in the house.
From a corner, Ragini listened to this conversation with a stiff and concerned look on her face while she didn't know Sid stood behind her listening to the conversation too.
