"What did you just say? Divorce? I think I heard it wrong," cried Ma.
Sparsh had told the family that he wanted to divorce Ragini and his parents were taken aback at the sudden announcement.
Papa said, "Sparsh, this is not the time for such jokes. Your Ma told you to bring our daughter-in-law back and you heard it. So, go and bring her back."
"This is not a joke. I've already signed the papers and handed them to Ragini."
Ma shouted, "Have you gone crazy? What has happened between both of you? Everything was good a few days ago, why are you talking about divorce all of a sudden?"
Sparsh replied in the same tone, "Because she doesn't love me. Your daughter-in-law doesn't love me. She married me forcefully. She didn't want to marry me, Ma. Our relationship was always a forced one, against her will."
The door bell rang. Sid volunteered to open the door and found Jeevika carrying her son in her arms. The cab driver was coming towards their house with her luggage in his hands. She smiled at Sid and gave him a slight hug. Sid took the bags from the driver and followed her into the house.
"What? Divorce? Bhaiya, what's wrong with you?" said Jeevika when she heard the news.
"I've taken my decision, so I need all of you to accept it as I'm not gonna reconsider it. And I'm sure Ragini would want the same."
"Sparsh, did something happen between you two? There must be some misunderstandings. You need to talk things out, son," spoke Papa.
"Papa, there's no misunderstanding. She has left the house. Good! Now I'm not going to talk to her about anything."
Sparsh turned to leave but Papa shouted his name from behind and he stopped.
"For God's sake Papa, she doesn't love me, she never wanted to marry me. All this time she had someone else in her heart. She never loved me, Ma. Never. Ever."
The whole family was shocked. Someone else in Ragini's heart. It was unbelievable.
"Bhaiya, do you even realise what you just said? You are telling us that Ragini bhabhi has been cheating on you. I can't believe it. None of us can."
"So you all believe her more than me. Fine, I'm not gonna say anything."
Jeevika grabbed his wrist to stop him from leaving but he shook her hand off and shouted, "Stop it!"
"Why are you shouting at her?" shouted Papa and Ma tried to calm down Papa who was fuming in anger by rubbing his arms.
"My wife has betrayed me, she doesn't love me and you all are making me feel like it's all my fault. If you wanna ask questions, ask your younger son, not me."
All the eyes landed on Sid's face. Sid gulped down the nervousness before moving towards Sparsh. "Bhaiya, we can't tell them this."
Sparsh smirked and said loudly, unlike Sid's whisper, "They will come to know sooner or later. So why not reveal things right away. The sooner, the better."
Ma asked, " What has he got to do with this? How is he involved in all this?"
"The one my wife and your daughter-in- law loves is none other than your younger son, Ma. My brother loves my wife. My own brother played such dirty games with me."
Ma held Sid's hand and said, "This is not the truth, right? It's just a misunderstanding right? Tell me, son."
"Tell them everything. Whatever you told me. The things you didn't tell me. Tell them everything, with each and every detail so they could stop being delusional," demanded Sparsh.
Even though Sparsh had been told the whole story before, it hurt him the same listening to it again. Ma, Papa and Jeevika were completely shocked and devastated. Ma and Jeevika began crying, they felt sorry for Sparsh. Papa also had tears in his eyes but he didn't let them fall down. He walked to where Sid was and gave him a tight slap. He grabbed his collar and shouted, "How could you do this to your brother? You have no shame. Your brother did so much for you and this is how you pay him back." He slapped him once more before hugging Ma and Jeevika.
"How could they do this to my son? He's such a sweet person, always kind to everyone. Why did they give so much pain to him?" Ma cried in Papa's arms.
Papa let go of Ma and Jeevika and warned Sid, "Even after their divorce, you can't marry her. I'd never let that girl come back to this house, not even as your wife."
Sid said, "I love her Papa. It's not her fault. It's all mine. She's innocent, she didn't do anything wrong."
Papa replied, "If you marry her, you won't have the access to this house. You've already disgraced us but you're still my son, but if you choose her, we're done with you. I'll forget that I had two sons. The choice is yours."
"She's more important to me. I can't let go of her again, like I did last time. I know I have hurt you all and I'm really sorry for that, but I can't make her suffer more because of me. I'll leave the house right away if you want."
"Get out then." Sid went to his room, packed his bags and within 10 minutes, he was standing in the living room with the whole family.
"I hope one day you forgive me. But I'd like to remind you once again, Ragini is not at fault. She's an innocent girl who I have hurt a lot and to make up for it, I can go to any extent. Hate me all you want, but please don't hate her. She doesn't deserve your hate." And Sid left the house.
"Didn't you explain things to them? Sparsh is a mature man, I'm sure he'd understand. After all, he loves Ragini," said Sush.
Sid was at Sush's apartment. Ragini hadn't told her anything. When she came to know about all this, she was really worried for her. She had always thought that Sparsh was an understanding partner but the reality said otherwise. She couldn't even imagine what condition her best friend would be in.
"I need to meet her. She needs me."
