Sid rushed and snatched his phone from the hand of Sparsh. He struggled to look into Sparsh's eyes while Sparsh stood still, his mind freezed and his body became cold.
"Bhaiya, I'm sorry."
Sparsh couldn't believe what he had seen. He was flabbergasted, even though he had suspected it.
"Bhaiya, say something. Slap me, beat me all you want. But don't say anything to Rags. It's all my fault. I was the one who messed up."
Not even a single word came out of Sparsh's mouth. He stared at Sid, his eyes watery and beads of sweat collected on his forehead. It hurt him to be betrayed by his brother and his wife.
He walked slowly to the kitchen, followed by Sid, and drank a full glass of cold water.Sparsh looked at Sid who was following him around with hopes he'd atleast listen to his explanation.
Finally, Sparsh had mustered up his courage to confront the situation. "Let's go to your room and you will tell me everything. The whole truth."
Sparsh sat there on the couch, devastated at the moulded truth narrated by his brother. Tears rolled down his eyes unknowingly and he didn't bother to wipe them either. The tsunami in his heart was too much to handle for him.
"You mean to say that she married me for her revenge on you. That she doesn't actually love me, the love and care she shows is all fake, it's only a way to make you jealous. I don't believe you. I've spent time with her, we've created some beautiful memories together. She loves me. Whatever happened in the past, she has me in her heart now," said Sparsh with tears leaving stains on his cheeks.
Sid didn't utter a single word and walked to the bed side table. He came back with a blue diary in his hands. He handed it to Sparsh. It was Ragini's personal diary. Sparsh flipped the pages and saw her pictures with Sid. The blotched ink on the paper proved she weeped while re-reading them. He quickly flipped the pages to read the most recent entries. The last entry was from their honeymoon trip. He began reading it and he felt pathetic. "I'm such a loser," he thought.
"She has become blind in revenge. I tried to bring her to the right path, but she doesn't listen at all. A few months ago, she hugged me in a public place, requesting to marry her. I was scared someone of our acquaintance would see."
Sparsh couldn't believe what he had heard. "What about you? Do you want to win her back?"
Sid nodded. "She was destroying herself for her revenge. She was also playing with your emotions. She's not in the state where she could think rationally. And I can't see her ruining herself and you like this."
Sparsh raised his brows to stop tears from falling down and asked, "Are you guys together?"
Sid nodded and replied, "The day you arrived at Portugal, she sent me a text saying she'll bear your child soon and make me regret my decision of letting her go. I told her that I'll be happy for both of you and don't expect anything, but she insists on using your emotions for her revenge and I can't let that happen. So I told her to not play with you and managed to somehow convince her. We're dating each other, again. She promised she won't take advantage of your love and that's the only reason you didn't have any sexual activity during your honeymoon trip."
The lack of physical intimacy during their honeymoon trip had bothered Sparsh. He had assumed it was because of his indifferent behaviour but it's true that Ragini never took an initiative. He remembered Ragini's sudden kisses and then her reluctance during the initial phase of their marriage. So it was all a show for Siddharth.
"Bhaiya, I was thinking of telling you the truth. I was looking for an opportunity to talk to you. Now that you know, please divorce her. I know I'm being selfish, but this is better for all of us."
Sparsh stood up and slapped Sid which astonished him. "How could you do this to me? You're my brother, my real brother. You are having an affair with my bloody wife and you are telling me to divorce her so you could have her. Have you even thought about our family? How will they endure all this? Both of you are so shameless."
Sparsh took a seat at the couch, his hands were trembling. His head was aching and his heart was beating faster than a drum. Imagining his life without Ragini was near to impossible for him. What will the family say? How will they react? They loved Ragini so much, she was no less than Jeevika for his parents.
"Even if I divorce her, you won't get her Siddharth. Ma and Papa would never agree to your relationship with her."
"I know and I understand too. I'll take her somewhere far away. We'll be happy together. Maybe one day, everyone, including you, will forgive us. I can't see her suffering like this. And I can't see you getting attached to her while all she wants is me and you are a mere toy for her."
A final tear escaped Sparsh's eye before getting up and storming out. Sid saw him leaving the house while crying and wiping his tears. A smile erupted on his face. "You're finally mine, my love."
"Sid, where's Sparsh?" asked Ragini.
"I don't know. I went to my room and he was sitting here. Why, what happened?"
"He didn't come to the room so I thought he would be with you. Is he in Ma and Papa's room by any chance?"
"No, they are already asleep. Rags, I wanna tell you something."
"Not now, Sid. Later. Lemme call Sparsh and find out where he is."
Ragini dialled his phone number and the phone's ringtone was audible to her. She looked around to see his phone lying on the couch, under the pillows.
"Rags, Bhaiya knows everything about us," confessed Sid.
Ragini's eyes widened at his words. Sparsh knew. What did he know? How? Where did he go? What was he thinking? These thoughts consumed her mind and she sat on the couch as if she had lost her strength and fallen down with a thump.
