Ch. 4 Doctor Who?
I trudged all the way to the doors. The Doctor let go of me for a second and pulled out a key from his jacket pocket. I clung onto the TARDIS as though my life depended on it, I had no intentions to fall, especially here in the hospital.
I heard a click in the door and the Doctor swung the door open. He extended his hand and I took it, letting him lead me into his time machine. It was exactly how I remember, the same white color covering the walls and the same control panel in the middle. I was amazed once more. Even when I step into a TARDIS with an instructor, I still love these machines. Their souls mesmerize me every time. The Doctor sits me down on a chair and starts to pilot his machine. Then I remember, "What about Flare?"
"I already told her." He informed me.
"How?"
"Complicated."
"I have time."
"Just not now."
I watched as the timelord takes his time to walk around the controls and make sure he presses the right buttons. He seemed fairly new to his TARDIS, but also very experienced. He was strange in his own way, not like any other timelord I've ever met, he just looked so much more free.
"So what happened while I was asleep?" I ask him. Better get the information from someone who will tell and not gossip.
"Nothing much. Everything went on normal like always. I still can't believe that they weren't able to wake you up, that it took a whole year. Comas are nothing on Gallifrey, so what was so different about you?" He explained sitting down next to me.
"I don't know," I told him.
"Now don't lie, I know you know, I can see it in your eyes, but I can't make out what it is. It's just plain strange." He said looking further into my eyes.
"Spoilers," I say. "It involves you, so I don't think I can tell you."
"Actually I believe it's the other way around," he started as soon as I finished talking. "Since I was in your dream, I have a right to know."
"Unless it is something serious and dangerous." I say back.
"Then I should be ready for such events."
I paused for a moment contemplating the situation. "So I'm guessing that you never paid attention to the instructions of the older." I say to him trying to choose another topic.
"What was your first guess?" He asked sarcastically.
"So you don't know?" I joked around. A sudden jolt of pain started in my head then ran down my spine. I clutched my head as fast as I could and closed my eyes at the unexpected jolt.
I could feel the Doctor's hand on mine. "Starlit, what's wrong? You can tell me." He told me.
Another pain rushed through me. It was more like a burning one this time. "Only... If you.... Tell me... Your name." I tell him, hoping another phase of pain won't surge through my body.
"If I tell you, you will be in the most amount of danger possible in the universe. That question is placed under an eternal lock and key." He spoke with serious words.
Another wave hit me, more like needles this time, and I felt it surge through all my veins and bones and nerves.
"Please just tell me." The Doctor said.
"An answer for an answer." I told him.
"There is no point in risking your life." He spoke.
"Yes, and there's no reason for me to tell you your future." I yelled at him.
The Doctor jumped out of his seat while I just sat there with my hands over my head. What is manipulating me? This is all impossible. What's going on? And why choose me of all timelords, I'm useless? I screamed all those questions through my head trying to forget the pain.
The Doctor just paced around. He was waving his arms around and had a fixed look on his face. He looked like he was everywhere at once. He then looked at me and slowly started to advance toward me. "So if I tell you, you tell me?" He asked looking very focused and decisive.
"All the danger of both answers." I told him. The pain started to alleviate but it was still there.
The Doctor knelt down to my height, he sat on his knees looking right into my eyes. "I am giving you my secret, that under any circumstances you may never again say or even think about, and in return you shall tell me everything that happened in your dream." He said.
"Yes." I said firmly.
He leaned toward me. His chin rested on my right shoulder throwing off my balance a bit. He whispered the words that any timelord dare not speak. He spoke his name into my ear. I stood there in awe. He leaned away, waiting for my answer, but I just stalled. This strange man who I barely know, just told me his biggest secret, the biggest secret in the Universe. Then with one snap of the Doctors fingers and I came back.
"So, Starlit, what happened in your dream?" He asked me.
I looked at him for a moment. "A lake in some desert that I've never seen before. The sun beating down on the sandy ground." I started. It was sort of like going into a trance. "A picnic. A very nice one indeed. 4 friends. You, ginger haired lady, blonde guy, and curly blonde girl. All connected in a strange way. One knowing more than the others." I was speaking as though it was a prophecy. "An astronaut rises up from the lake and strikes the timelord... Dead." That's when that feeling returned and I could feel my body become limp.
"Starlit, stay with me. You don't have another year to nap." He told me holding me up, but head was wobbling. He shined a light into my eyes. My pupils shrank and I wanted to close my eyes to avoid the blinding light but the Doctor made me stay awake. I didn't want to fall asleep either, I tried my best to fight it, but I was too tired, too weak.
"Um..." I could hear the Doctor saying.
"Tell me about your family Starlit." He said so suddenly.
"I-I never knew them. I was taken away... 8 years old." I spoke. I understood what the Doctor was doing.
"Don't we all. Have you ever wanted to meet them properly?" He asked.
"Of course, but it's illegal." I tell him.
More darkness comes over but the Doctor starts talking again.
"How about we go and find them? You can meet your mom." He said tried to keep me awake.
"That would be nice." I answered. My speech becoming slower and unsteadier.
"Come on, lets go find her!" He yelled. He stood up, taking me with him. I was laying over the control panel while he pushed some buttons. The TARDIS materialized and he ran to the doors opening them. Then he ran back helping me. We stepped into a beautiful house.
I saw a figure running down some stairs. "Starlit?" A female voice said with shock. Awe filled her voice. She became blurrier and then darker until I could no longer see or feel anything around me.
"Starlit, no!" I heard the Doctor yell.
