29. An Unfinished Life

"Get me out of here! You have no right! Davros! Get me out!" I yelled at the top of my lungs.

"You will remain silent." The Dalek ceased my cries for help.

My hearts were pounding inside my chest. I just barely awoke from my nightmare, the nightmare that has haunted my subconscious time and time again, the Doctor's death. There wasn't much I could do to get my mind off of it. Couldn't do much to keep the drumming out of my head. I was literally stuck in a tiny force field container. My set of never ending chains that would always be there, in one form of another, to keep me locked up, just another lab rat.

There was no more sign of the Doctor. He was probably still with Davros, he would still have Rose there, hopefully.

"Can I know what's going on?" I asked the Dalek.

"Do not ask questions." It answered.

"If I'm going to be stuck here forever under the supervision of Davros, I need to know."

"There is no answer in my knowledge bank to answer your question."

"But Daleks have a hive-mind. You must share knowledge."

"Davros does whatever he pleases as long as he doesn't get in the way."

"Oh I get it. He's a pet, and you're no better."

The creature turned its robot shell around, faced me.

A monitor turned on, an video feed of Davros appeared. The Doctor and Rose were both in similar force field as mine.

"The Weapon will speak. The one who slaughtered millions with no hint of regret in her eye." Davros said. The Doctor had his face down. He looked sad, one of the saddest looks in his eye. "You speak!"

"Speak what?"

"Who are your creators?"

"If I knew, they would be dead by now."

"Doctor. Who are her creators?"

The Doctor didn't answer.

"I wish I were there to see the beautiful machine of pure hatred. So much of it, that it went rouge." Davros said in high spirits.

"I had no choice in anything that I did."

"I believe that this is the ultimate lie."

I thought about it for a moment. "No, you are right. This isn't the whole truth."

"I knew it. The confession of the Weapon."

"The truth is... I really wanted to kill you."

Davros's face fell. There was no way he expected my answer. "So be it. I have no further use for you. Dalek, exterminate the girl."

The Dalek turned back to me, positioning its gun toward me. There was no place to run, no escape.

"No! Davros! I know you need me!" I yelled.

"It's not you, it's the Weapon I want."

"Then go dive into the Time Lock and retrieve it."

The Dalek laser fired. My eyes shut as a reflex.

"Hey kid." I heard a familiar voice. I opened my eyes quickly.

"What took you so long?" I asked.

"Do you know how many ventilation pipes I had to crawl through?" Jack answered.

"Three."

"Lucky guess." He turned off the forcefield. I ran and pulled him into a hug.

"It's nice to see you again." I spoke.
