20. The Year That Never Was

I awoke from my uncomfortable sleep in a steel cage. The same way I have been waking up for the past year. Wow it's been that long already. John was barely crawling out of his tent. I couldn't believe how old he was. I've learned a lot more about him. He's a Time Lord, like Saxon. Well he's actually the Master. And John is the Doctor. I'm still trying to get it through my head, but I can't with all this drumming in my head. Its getting louder and louder. I don't know what to do about it. Most days I would just lay in a ball in my person sized bird cage but I can't anymore. I can't even close my eyes anymore. Jack is still stuck in his prison while the Jones family are working as servants for the Master.

Starlit. My name. My true name I should say. I still haven't exactly figured out why. The Master keeps insisting that I'm a Time Lady. That is certainly incorrect information. I was born human, raised human and I AM human. He's got to get that through that big head of his. And I notice that every single time the Master talks to me, the Doctor is always looking at me, making sure nothing goes wrong.

Martha still hasn't returned. She probably will in a couple of days. Hopefully before the Master finds her. I'm truly worried about her. Oh no. And there's also Donna. She's probably going to kill me next time she sees me.

Anything more that has happened this past year? Oh yeah. The Doctor has figured out what those spheres were. It's extremely awful really. Those spheres are humans from the future. Neither of us have figured out yet why they have been sent backwards in time. Look at me. I'm sounding like all of this is possible, but now, I really have no choice but to believe the impossible. And the drumming in my head makes it so.

Suddenly the Master came in and music turned on. A catchy but cruel song. He literally pushed the Doctor on a chair and started pushing him around the entire room. I was waiting for the Master to ram him into something but he didn't. He pushed him to a window and they had a small conversation that I couldn't hear. The Doctor whispered something to him making the Master step away from him and come over to me.

"So Doctor. Have you told her yet or will I have to?" He yelled across the room while looking at me.

"Told me what?" I asked.

"I will. But not today. Not like this." The Doctor's old voice cracked as he spoke as loud as possible.

"But if you don't tell her soon, and when my patience is gone. I will tell her."

"Please. Tell me what?" I was getting frustrated.

The Master leaned on my cage making it tilt and making me fall toward him. "Be warned." He whispered to me as he took his 'wife' away to another room. Her name I believe was Lucy. She didn't look good at all. Bags were under her eyes. It looked like there were scars on her face. What in the world was he doing to her?

Just then I glanced at the Doctor who was signaling the Jones. Jack was going to break free. I got ready to do my part in the situation. Only 5 minutes to wait before the clock would strike 5 o'clock and the plan would fall into action.

At 4:59 I started to sway my cage back and forth, trying to get it off the hook. The the clock hit 5 my cage fell to the ground, right on the door making the lock shatter and the door open. I got out with pure joy. The Doctor had the laser screwdriver in his hands the Master had his hands up. A smile came on my face, before he lowereed his hands and came to the Doctor, took the screwdriver away from him and slapped him hard enough to make him fall to the floor. I rushed over to him. I stopped about midway when a laser almost hit me.

"Stay back!" The Master yelled. I only looked at the Doctor and the Jones mom and daughter. By the time I looked back at the Master, he was right in front of me getting ready to slap me. "The Weapon is not allowed to leave her cage!"

"Don't call me that!" I yelled back.

The Master sort of backed down before he came even closer. "I liked you a lot better when you were afraid of me."

"And when was that?"

"About a hundred years ago."

I only looked at him with as much confusion as I could show before I pushed past him and headed toward the Doctor who was barely getting up. I got to him and helped him up, before the Master pulled me away..

"Did you have black in your eyes?" He asked.

"What does that have to do with anything?" I retorted.

"So you have. Wonderful. This story will move right along then."

"What story?" I asked as the Master touched my cheek. I tried to get away but he kept me in place. Before he could respond I saw him completely confused for a moment. I heard another set of drumming in my head and it looked like he did also.

"But you. How?" He asked.

"I would like to ask you the same question."

"The neverending drum beat. How can it be in your head?"

"I don't know. I thought it was only in my head."

Out of nowhere he pulled me into a hug. "Someone who finally understands me."

"What?" I hear the Doctor say.

The Master instantly turned around and looked at him. "How do you not know? Starlit. You've known her all your life and you've never known that she has the drums in her head." He spoke mockinyly. He then turned around to me once more. His hands placed around my head. The drumming sounded like it amplified. It filled my head a million times louder than any other time. My head felt like it was burning. I wanted to break free from the Masters grasp but I couldn't fell my own limbs anymore. I felt gravity taking over me. The Master did let go in the end.

Luckily I was caught by someone. Tish caught me. That was the last thing I saw before there was nothing more.
