31. Settling With Amelia
Stuck in a parallel time, the greatest vacation ever!
That next morning when I woke up Amelia came running down the stairs, obviously depressed that the Doctor broke his promise, me, not so much. He would come sooner or later. Amelia immediately let me stay. It all happened very quickly and after some paperwork I became Amelia's family babysitter. Weird times I say. The only person who I had to look after was Amelia. Later I got a job, so boring. I worked while she was in school. Sometimes her aunt would come over with groceries and such, keeps company for an afternoon. Many times I would tell Amelia about the Doctor and his magic blue box. It was our little game but we always enjoyed it. She made replicas of him and the TARDIS.
Later on, Amelia started bringing her friends over, just Rory and Mels. I remember them playing together while I was cooking. Rory thought the idea behind the Doctor was cool, but Mels took quite the interest, started telling herself that everything was the Doctor's fault in either good or bad way. Amelia often told me about the reports and how Mels was always being sent down to the principals office.
Still life went on and it seemed like the kids that I would always be glad to babysit then became teenagers, then graduated and became adults. Time flew by so fast. I could feel as the pull of the Weapon kept getting further and further away. I was able to sit outside under the sun set and breathe in the fresh air knowing that I would be safe the next day.
Eventually everything began to settle out, Amy (don't know why she changed her beautiful name) and Rory began to date. Rory wanted to become a nurse so he was mostly in he hospital, didn't see him too much. Amy was doing who knows what. I never really understood and never really asked. Mels was always in trouble, always some kind of little crime of hers. I was the one to always bail her out in one way or another, even though she never knew that it was me.
Twelve whole years passed, I was at peace, never wanted to leave and that's exactly when the Doctor decided to show up. I remember the day well. I was cleaning up the kitchen after a slight lunch. Amy was sitting with me still poking at her leftover food. I was about to was the dishes when I heard the door suddenly open.
A voice called throughout the house going up the stairs, 'Amelia! Amelia!' I suddenly looked at her. I recognized the voice slightly, but it was completely brand new.
Coincidentally Amy was prepared, and prepared I mean she was dressed up as a cop with her hair up hidden in her hat. She took something that I didn't see, something wooden perhaps, and started to quietly walking upstairs. I followed her.
The voice could be heard again, 'Prisoner Zero is here!'
I didn't know what he meant at all, but when I got all the way to Amy I saw the Doctor was already unconscious.
"Nice going." I told her.
"Is that really him?" She asked me suddenly.
"Yup."
"Why is he so late?" I could see the anger boil up inside her.
"It's not his fault. Well I think it's not his fault. Think of it this way, if he really did to explore the stars without you he would have changed his clothes."
"What about you?"
"What about me?"
"Well you've waited just as long as I have even though you barely aged. Why don't you want to explore the stars anymore? There's probably so much."
"Yeah it's definitely amazing, and I do miss it. But I really needed a vacation." Part of what I said was a lie though. I really don't miss it anymore. Whenever we were saving a planet or just people I would be the puppet. I would always be the one to fear and I was tired of people seeing me as the enemy. "So, why did you knock him out?"
