Several emotions pass through his face in a matter of seconds as he stares at me unblinkingly but the one that seems to push all others in the background is a desperate longing. His tear-stained cheeks twist in pain, pleasure and disbelief.

He appears so heartbreakingly alone in this moment, I wonder how many visions he has had of this very moment to doubt his own eyes, eyes that are no longer black, unlike the last time I saw them.

He looks tired and weary.

"Baby." I manage to say, urging him to come to me, I want to touch him more, feel him so that I can feel alive as well.

"Are you real?" He whispers, and uncertainty fills his eyes. His hesitancy telling me things his lips are not.

With all my remaining strength I squeeze his hand, ensuring him of my presence. Wanting to remove any doubt from his mind, to give him the peace that must have eluded him for a long time.

He snaps out of the trance, and stands abruptly, sending the stool flying backwards, he then bends down so he can see my face clearly, "Ray." My name passes through his lips in a raspy prayer.

"Romero."

He closes his eyes as if savouring the feeling. "You are back." The relief in his voice is overwhelming, and so is the tremor that cuts through his body as he releases a shuddering breath.

"I am back." I am so glad to come back to him even if I have to endure the pain of leaving my family back for the rest of my life because now he is my family too.

Above all he is mine.

He presses feather-like kisses on my closed eyelids, so soft as if afraid it might hurt me.

"I m-missed you so much." His voice breaks a little and my heart breaks alongside it.

My dark angel.

So strong and yet so vulnerable.

"I love you." This is the only way I know to make him feel invincible again, with my love so I am going to give him all of it.

"Fuck." He mutters hoarsely and I watch helplessly as a tear drops from his left eye to my face.

"No, don't."

I try to bring my other hand to wipe his face, a searing pain halts all of my movement and I squeeze my eyes shut, willing it to go away.

He notices, his concerned voice pierces through the haze of pain, "Ray? What is it? Where does it hurt? Doctor! Nurse!" He bellows.

When there is no movement next second, I feel him pull away from me, I open my eyes to see him make a move toward the door and tighten my hold, he stops immediately, turning back to face me, I shake my head, "No, don't leave me." I plead.

His face sets in a fierce determination, "Never." He vows.

A moment later, a middle-aged nurse, enters the room, looking sharp and alert, but her expression soon transfers into a kind smile when she sees me, "Oh you are awake." Pressing a green button by the door, she walks towards me, and starts writing down something on her pad, "Welcome back, sweetheart. You have so many people waiting for you outside."

What? People?

Is grandma here as well?

Oh no, she must be sick with worry.

She has suffered so much already and now this?

Is Logan here as well? And Bella?

They must be scared and worried.
