Invincible - A Naruto Fanfic

Chapter Two

"Kiko? You awake? I will pinch you if you don't wake up. Believe it!" My eyes flutter open and the first thing I do is glare at the blonde. How dare he wake me from my slumber!

Oh and high and mighty here is grinning like he owns the world. Someday I am going to take him down from that spot just so he can realize that he isn't all that. Makes me angrier. Definitely not something I like to wake up to.

'My lady calm down! It's already night! The kid was doing you a favor!' Ryujin yells in my head only making my glare harder. Sheesh can't a girl just sleep! I'm use to sleeping outside anyways!

Naruto goes to lend me a hand but I swat it away. He's not getting away with waking me up that easily!! A look of sadness crosses through his face reaching his blue eyes, almost making me sorry. Almost.

"So what did you want?" I ask looking at the rising moon in the sky.

"Me and Sasuke just got done training. We thought you would want to come back with us." Naruto said trying to regain his usual happy energetic personality.

He's similar to me, isn't he Ryujin. 'My lady, please don't think too hard about it. He may seem similar but a dark energy is within him.' And what am I supposed to consider you as?

He grunts at my response and I giggle to myself causing weird looks from the two boys beside me. Regaining my composure, I continue on with Ryujin.

Naruto has a warm feeling to him though. Something that feels familiar to me, but I can't place it. 'One day you will remember. Everything.' I sigh and say nothing more.

When is this "one day"? Tomorrow? A week? A year? It has become my obsession. I just need the truth.

"So Kiko..." Naruto trailed off gaining my attention. Turning my head I stare at him blankly waiting for him to say something to at least peak my interest.

"Why are you going to Konoha?" Naruto finishes and Sasuke does his, Hn, most likely meaning he wants to know as well.

"Well I need to speak to the Hokage. It's more of a private meeting." I say not wanting to dive deeper into the subject.

No one said anything and soon we arrived at a smaller house on the water. Strange. Most ninja's don't stay in the homes of their employer.

At least this is sorta preparing me for how the other ninja's will be in Konoha. Or they will be like any other ninja that I've met along my journey.

Barging straight in, I can already smell the home cooked meal waiting on the table. No, bad me. I am just a guest that randomly appeared.

I hear Ryujin chuckle but decide to ignore him. I can't break into habits like expecting good food and such.

Standing at the doorway I wait for someone to notice me. Looking Kakashi directly in the eye when no one does, he seems to realize that I need an introduction.

"Um well this is Kiko. She's gonna stay with us for a while if you don't mind." Kakashi scratches his head in discomfort when the man at the table, Tazuna I guess, just stared at him.

"Oh my! No one is going to welcome her?" A woman probably in her late twenties rushes into the room bringing out the delicious smelling food along with her.

"Well if I heard correctly your Kiko. I'm Tsunami and you are always welcomed here!" She smiles at me and I just nod shocked at her... Well her welcomeness to me.

"Thank you. Then I hope I'm not intruding." I say politely sitting down at an empty spot at the table.

The rest of the food is soon brought out and everyone starts chowing down hungrily. Especially Naruto and Sasuke who keep asking for more before throwing it up. Sigh. Just what have I gotten myself into.

Sakura finally gets mad at them both and they stop their frantic eating. Finally! That was becoming annoying.

After a little while I noticed that a little boy was sitting with us at the table. I normally would have noticed him right away, but this team... Sigh. I have a feeling that I will be sighing even more if I stay with them for too long.

"Why is that picture torn?" Sakura asks pointing to a picture on the wall that had one person torn off.

"When Inari was born his father passed before he could know him. Then a man named Kaiza came to our village and Tsunami gladly welcome him as a father figure and he soon became her husband." Tazuna paused before continuing. "But when Gato's men came he tried to stand up against him, but he was killed."

The room became silent before a door slammed and the boy, Inari, raced out of the house. "Father you know not to talk about that in front of him." Tsunami yelled angrily at Tazuna.

He bowed his head in shame at speaking of something forbidden in front of the kid. "I'm sorry. I got carried away."

Naruto gets up and runs after the kid and strangely enough I follow. Of course everyone else just stares at me strangely. Not that I'm not use to it.

Sensing Inari on the roof I jump up and sit beside his crying self. Seems like Naruto hasn't found him yet.

"You know kid. Everyone loses someone they love in life. Even Naruto probably has though he still smiles. But the people we think we will never see again are actually always around us. I'm sure your father is watching over you, always."

We sit in silence the kids tears slowly dying down. "Who have you lost?' He asks surprising me.

My eyes widen before I slowly smile thinking of everyone I have met and became close to before they died. "Many friends and family I have lost during my stay in different countries." I look down at my hands before I start again.

"You see, I became a traveler because my family is gone. Massacred at that. But sadly enough I don't remember much about them. You though have the choice to remember everything your father ever taught you. If I were you, I'd hold onto that."

He didn't ask any more questions and Ryujin stayed silent in my head. He knows that it was my decision to tell him. But I can't help but to want to help someone so young who has lost someone they loved. It reminds me too much of myself.

For the rest of the evening we sat in silence just admiring the moon's reflection on the water. So peaceful that you wouldn't think this town was run by an evil dictator. But beauty can only hide so much.

And I know I probably got things mixed up during the scene with Tazuna, but honestly I really don't want to rewatch Naruto after being on the last episode waiting for the new ones to come out.

So I hope you still like and I will probably change things up later on too. But the majority of the story will stay the same.
