Sasuke wasn't the kind of person to get so worked up about something. He couldn't even recall the last time he felt this excited, and it had been a while since he felt this way.

It had been a few days since he and Sakura exchanged numbers, but he hadn't heard from her at all... He wondered if she was waiting for him to text her, but also he didn't want to come across as desperate.

Would he really seem desperate? They had only met twice, but he had even tried to come up with an excuse to visit her at work... He had even gone as far as picking up the wrong item he didn't need, for goodness' sake!

Sasuke was just lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling. It was another weekend and his friends were once again trying to convince him to go out to the bars. How many times did they need to go out before they realized that this wasn't the life? Sasuke didn't want to grow old and have no interesting stories to tell his future children.

As if that could even happen at this point.

His parents had made it seem impossible for him to find love in the future. He didn't want to end up like them, where his father always had the final say in everything...

He didn't exactly hate his family, if anything it was the complete opposite. He had spent his whole life desperately seeking his father's approval, always feeling like he fell short.

Sasuke used to have a close relationship with his older brother, but things changed when his brother married someone from a lower social class and started living his own life. This was one of the reasons why their father became so strict with him, expecting nothing but perfection. Itachi had managed to escape from it all, while Sasuke was still trapped in this monotonous existence.

Perhaps that's why he harbored so much resentment towards his brother for putting him in this position.

His mother, on the other hand, clearly loved her children but could never stand up for herself. She always followed their father's word without question.

But there was something about that girl with pink hair that intrigued him. Every time they crossed paths, she seemed genuinely happy.

Sasuke wanted that. He was eager to try something new, and it seemed like she was open to being a part of it.

Setting aside his pride, he scrolled through his contacts and selected her number. As he tapped away on his phone, contemplating what to text, it only took a few minutes before he finally started typing.

  iMessage

(Sasuke: Hey, this is Sasuke.)

He couldn't understand why it took him so long to type such a simple message.

He sat there, waiting for Sakura's response, hoping it wouldn't take too long. It was Friday night, so he figured she might be busy with work or something. Maybe tomorrow, she would suggest meeting up at the beach.

He had been browsing rental options the other night and even went as far as ordering the appropriate attire for an activity like this. It was a new experience for him, which only highlighted how dull and uneventful his life had been. Sometimes, he felt pathetic that all he did in his free time was drink and party.

Sasuke didn't want to look back and realize that his life was only worth that. He didn't want to spend his days pleasing his father and working a mundane 9-5 job with no hobbies or interests.

Growing up, his parents never supported his passions, and eventually, he gave up on them.

His attention snapped back to reality when Sakura finally replied to his text.
